He isn't ScapeGOATed at all.
He has 2 years left in contract, with significant pay raise. Negotiation has been going for months now and there was no progress.
Selling him now is the best for both parties, he will get the pay raise he wants, we get decent fee for him. It is purely business.

In my personal opinion, I think Dest is better too. Remains to be seen if he's better than someone like Emerson but I think Dest has a higher potential.
