Kneel before me :worthy:. I told you a month ago it will be our 3rd kit, not senyera.

I remember when our beautiful club used the previous seasons away kit as the third kit rather than come up with 3 different kits. Yet another way the board has changed the club for the worse.

Yeah pretty standard across most clubs but this new 3rd kit is wrong. Vile lime, would have been acceptable if it were yellow like in the Senyera flag, but nah, don't like it, don't get it.

Jesus... I'm all for criticizing the damn board when it's appropriate, but this is not one of those times. The reason there's a new third kit is because the current away kit is orange, and last season's away kit is yellow & red. What's the point of having two kits with similar or the same colors?

They did the same thing last season, as well. The 2012/2013 away kit was yellow/orange, and the away kit was the senyera, so you couldn't have both. That's why last season's third kit was black.

Its a principle. I always thought when teams brought out 3 kits how glad I was that we didn't do that. Its not a big thing, fair enough, but still when the board said we would use the senyera kit as our third one they are going back on yet another thing.

It's not a matter of being commercial or being heavy with marketing, it's for practical reasons. Two new kits are coming out every season as it is. The other part is true, though. I think it was probably a case of Rosell running his mouth and promising something that was out of his power. Nike imposes new home and away kits every season, and if the previous season's away kit turns out to be too similar to either one, common sense (or should I say, the FA) dictates you're not going to use it.

The senyera away kit has been a historical commercial success for the club and Rosell said it will be appearing more and more in Barça’s future. “It’s very beautiful. The commercial sales have been impressive and it will continue as the third uniform of the team next year and also for the time we stand as the club board“. The uniform will also be used in “special” matches.

Then again, you could argue that "the time they stand as the club board" has passed.

IMHO, what they should have done, if it was possible, was to push for an away kit that was not similar in color to the senyera. Maybe the lime green one. Then they could have kept the senyera. I doubt Nike has anything in principle against keeping the senyera around, especially if it's selling so good.

Yeah. The main thing they should have done is try to push to keep the Senyera and a different coloured away kit. Perhaps they did but then again its the best selling shirt in the clubs history which suggests they didn't as surely Nike wouldn't have objected.

I think pushing out a third kit every year is more of decision by the manufacturer of the kit (in this case Nike), rather than the club. It is a "ploy" to garner more sales.

Actually Flavia, many major kit makers, including Nike, Adidas, Puma etc. have done that. They develop a basic "template" with the same style, just add different color themes and switch out the team badge. For example, Real Madrid's all three jerseys from this season is based on the same template of the Germany away 14/15 jersey.

Why the facepalm? Surely they don't have to come up with a completely new design for all three kits for all clubs they sponsor? There's a few color/design patterns, a few collar types, different fonts and that's OK with me.

Yeah, it's strange. Everyone would profit. Definitely more than they're going to with the lime green shirt.

Because I don't like it... Many teams with the exact same design, just different colors. It is pretty ridiculous. The policy of having the previous away kit as the 3rd kit was much better. This is just nike trying to profit.

Wow, agreed that is going way overboard. Yes Nike is particularly bad in this regard, but like I said, they all do it these days. It is simply not economic for them to develop a unique template for each team.
