Well first of all, ¡buenas tardes!

I go by the name Eetu, I'm from Finland and I've been around for 23 years now. I like to think I was born a culé, but it just took me quite a while to realise it. :)

First there was the love of football, thanks to my dad. I've been playing it as long as I can remember and watching games every chance I got just as long. Of course living in a country where ice hockey is, or at least used to be the main sport, the chances didn't come as often as I would've liked – much of the time it was just UCL and FA Cup.

Then there was the strong liking of Spanish atmosphere. While we used to travel all around Europe, Alcudia was the place we kept going back, time after time (had some family friends and so on).

For quite a long time I was just a fan of individuals and used to cheer for any team playing beautiful enough. The first Barca-shirt I got was one of those silver away-shirts with 'Rivaldo 10' on the back, not sure of the season though. It wasn't until the season 05/06 that we started to get La Liga on TV, but better late than never. I absolutely fell in love with the intensity of play. As a result of that I started to read a bit about the sport in Spain (Morbo, People's Passion) and from there on it was clear that there was to be only one team.

Now I'm in a phase, where I try to absorb everything related to the team and the city. Just had my first visit there in May. My long term dream is to move there one day but that's gonna take a while.

Meanwhile, I'm hoping for there to be many moments of joy to be shared here, this season and in the future!

Visca el Barça, y visca Catalunya!

Welcome Etuu, that's a nice intro. I hope you enjoy the forums!

By the way, it's not "y" in Catalan, it's "i" (i visca Catalunya) :)

I stand corrected

(Btw. if there's any 'Basic Catalan' type of book anyone could recommend, I'd be more than glad.)

Thanks to both of ya!

Welcome eetu. Great introduction. I like the phrase "I was born a culé, but it just took me quite a while to realise it".

And you visited barcelona in may.. that must have been a great month to visit, no matter when it was. There was all the buzz of iniesta's goal, and the hype leading up to the CL final, and of course if it was after that Wednesday in rome the city must have been vibrant with celebration.

Thanks and yeah, it was just four day trip but the timing was great. I arrived on Monday after that goal and one morning as I was getting some breakfast from Boqueria, out of nowhere, someone started to sign Andres' name to the melody Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You with all his heart

Then on Wednesday there was the final of CdR. I can't even find words to describe how it was. The atmosphere (especially since it was the first trophy in a while) was just beyond crazy. Only a couple of hours at Plaça de Catalunya before the riot squad put an end to the party and it took me a few days to get my hearing even close to normal.

A great trip, but then again, surely a great city any time of year. :)

Welcome Eetu, I'm sure we have met and talked on another football forum.
Cue The City of Barcelona-thread in a place where the United supporters are in majority.

Now you know who I am :D Tervetuloa!
