Neymar Jr. - v5

Obviously they want to unsettle Barca as much as they can and Neymar is just a collateral here. As bad as he is, he'd prefer to just move without being found out like this.

I have no doubt PSG leaked stuff on purpose.

I'm sure they will also try to drag on this as long as is possible just to screw us over. That's why we should not play him at all. It beats me why it's happening. If negotiations are at an advanced stage, why is he still playing, causing distractions, fighting with team mates etc? The board is enabling this circus to play him. Exclude him and i'm sure he will put pressure on PSG to close the deal asap.

I'm guessing PSG are really struggling with the idea of paying the buyout clause directly.

It is probably that case, they will have to either sell, risk FFP or sit with us to negotiate. That is probably why Neymar himself doesn't talk. He wants the deal to happen but he has to wait to know if it can happen

Maybe PSG have talked to Neymar to start causing troubles in the team, so we are more open to negotiate with them for a move.

I would take Verratti plus cash. I know this isn't happening, though. I think we should get Dembele and push for Hazard if he wants to come, if not we should get Coutinho.

Guys, just to put some perspective on Neymar leaving:-

1.) First up, let's assume he's definitely out of here. All signs point to this now; in fact it's going to be very awkward for us if he doesn't go - what do we do, bench him? We can't do that. Play him to hear boos in our own stadium? That can't help us..So yeah, we're sort of at a point of no return.

2.) Now, let's face facts. He's a fantastic player. Can he be easily replaced? Surely not. However, we have to look at 2 scenarios:-
a) He evolves and fulfills his potential and becomes a great. Let's face it, he's good right now, but not quite reached the heights people expected to. His finishing, especially, leaves a lot to be desired. So, let's assume he really does become better. In this case, we'd probably get another season of him, before a contract or transfer saga, like we've had every season he's been here. Heck, if we don't manage to sign any good midfielders (and that's looking very likely at this stage), even a really good Neymar cannot salvage our season and we are still going to find it difficult to compete in Liga and CL. We've seen this in the previous season, MSN is helpless without a midfield.

b) He has already peaked, and this is about as good as we're going to get from him. Even if he manages to keep this form for an entire season (which is unlikely, as consistency isn't something you can expect from him), we'd actually be better off having a world class midfielder or two AND a GOOD LW (obviously not as good as Neymar). However, there's a good chance he's just going to decline, primarily because of his lack of focus on football. In this case, we're going to get as much money as we're ever going to get from him right now. What we do with that money is another question, but somehow, there's a good chance he isn't going to be as effective next season if he stays, especially considering all this drama.

Now, looking at past examples of the myriad Brazilian superstars who let fame get to their head, I don't think it's unfair to say the chances of either situation playing out are 50/50. In fact, you would think the second option is more likely - considering everything we know about him and his ways.

Another point to think about, as good as he is, he does have his flaws, in the game too. His obsession to only pass to Messi, slowing down play and ball hogging, needless theatrics and tendency to lose cool and often pointless dribbling sideways.. Again, I'm not saying he isn't a good player; it's just that we could hit the jackpot with another player, who isn't as good as him in terms of pure skill, but doesn't have the above mentioned issues. Someone like a prime Pedro for example (2009-11).

Then there's the missing league games because he has to attend his sister's birthday bash, the constant contract drama and all the pandering required...think about it guys. If you take at the bigger picture - it's really not as gloomy as you think. Worst case, we could have had a better season; best case - we cut off the tumor before it becomes cancerous and get paid a fortune for it.

The real problem I see however, is this much cash in the hands of some of the most inept suits in football. For that, I fear.

Dont think they would even try that.

The danger for them is that gambling like that and Neymar changes his mind.

No way they risk that.
Doesnt need to be last day. Even last week or 10 days would mean big big panic in our camp. They would likely assure Neymar everyting will be done in time.

How could that possibly be?

I thought PSG had unlimited funds and could pay the 100m tax as if it were pocket change?

Mohamed Bouhafsi: In the entourage of Neymar we hope an agreement between the #PSG and FC Barcelona on Monday or Tuesday!
That's not the only thing RMC published this afternoon.

They said Neymar gave his final answer to join PSG. And they said that while they tried to negociate with Barca to avoid paying french taxes, it doesn't make a difference, they will pay the clause if Barcelona is unwilling. That's why they are negociating with french administration to start paying the taxes next year. It is not unheard to deal with french administration that way.

not sure if reliable: http://www.sport-english.com/en/news/ligue-1/verratti-starts-a-new-battle-with-psg-6190898 but apperantly Verratti is unhappy again with PSG and wants higher wages. such a shame he hired fat ratcunt as his agent now though i don't think we or Madrid deal with him. United are busy chasing Matic and Perisic so not worried about them
False reporting from Sport. There's nothing about that in France. It is know Verratti wants a renewal, that's all so far.

Still remains the same that they risk Neymar changing mind or some other teams trying to put together deals to sign him.

Ten days doesnt really matter.

They wont risk all that to screw Barca over.

They have unlimited funds, but there's the FFP.

They want to continue recruiting, and RMC said that the taxes they want to avoid paying or to delay to next year would pay at least 1 year of Neymar's salary.

They are not in a bad position if you listen to RMC full stuff. They can pay, and also paid companies to prove that their earnings will raise because of Neymar. They plan to have it all ready, and send their files to UEFA right after the signing.
