Neymar Jr. - v5

Ballon d'Or is still the most prestigious individual award and has an enormous impact of a player's legacy in the game (just like any other individual awards as well). Or how many times a player gets into [insert year] XI. It becomes even more valuable when we look back when their careers are over.

Amongst the masses opinions yeah maybe but in truth its very misleading.

This guy was an expert at making himself irrelevant. It's good that the World Cup is next, because this guy is not even talked about anymore after the big fuss with his transfer faded. Everything is about Ronaldo, Madrid, Messi, Barca, Salah, Heinckes' Bayern etc. etc.

You can have money, and talent, and you can be a dribbling genius. But you can't buy brains. This guy is as dumb as it gets.

What do you mean? He's been discussed everywhere until his injury. Don't get your point.

His scandal with Cavani was more of a news than his great nonexistent impact at PSG.

Did make himself relevant.

Jair is probably the only one to watch that league after all, no surprise there. But there were talks about him at the beginning of the season. Did quite well. Both in France and in the CL (Madrid match excluded).

Like how he tried to escape the shadow of Messi and Ronaldo yet it feels like he fell even more behind.

Unless he has a great world cup, I could even see him missing the Bdor podium next year with the way Salah is performing and gaining global praise.

Hell, he's even managed to get in the shadow of Salah.

This World Cup needs to be a defining tournament for Neymar.

Even in Brazil their players are judged on World Cup impact. Pele and Garrincha to Jarzinho, Carlos Alberto, Rivelinho, Romario, Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Cafu and Roberto Carlos.

To be a great in Brazil you need to win a World Cup with them. The only exception to that is some of the 1982 team who are heralded for the great football they played that tournament.

The next World Cup in Qatar he'll be nearly 31 and probably his last World Cup. He'll have peaked by then and that's if he's still in the team given how fast Brazilian stars tend to burn out. This really needs to be his tournament. Messi and Ronaldo have dominated football for a decade and while a World Cup would put a cap on that they've already got enough in the bank.

This is probably the last world cup for most of the current players, because the one in Quatar isnt a real world cup, its invalid by default.

lol, yes he is in the shadow of messi and ronaldo, but way better than Salah :D

Salah is almost in the CL semifinals and is probably the best player in the PL this season, or one of the very few best anyway. Neymar had a weaker season. So, he didn't show at all he's better than Salah this season.
