N'Golo Kante

We all know how this ends, if you end up buying him.
He will start in midfield, and then people discovers he doesnt have "Barca-DNA" aka cant play 1-2s with Messi all that well(rule number 1 if playing at Barcelona), then he will be placed as a CB, where he will do okay.

Why not just buy a real CB instead?

Do you not understand the difference between the midfield mascherano had to displace and the midfield now. He came when busquets, xavi and iniesta were in there prime and our style was tiki taka. Nobody would take their place. We now have over the hill busquets, rakitic and vidal, injury prone Arthur and a young good player in FDJ. Not only would kante get into this midfield, he would most likely be our best midfielder

Criminal not to buy him in 2016 when Leicester were selling him for only 30m, and he was already player of the 15/16 season.
We would be having the necessary work-rate, defensive intelligence, and physicality in the md not to get humiliated in Europe (which started that year with PSG 4-0 defeat)

Of course, the idiots running the club were thinking that Raki was still good, and we saw how this ended.

Now it's too late, he is too old

Used to be even better and more consistent. Just had a good game recently and hype is through the roof

It's a pretty silly thing to hold ones feet to the fire over. Big teams would have gotten held out for far more than 30

Baseless assumption.
Summer of 2016 was before Neymar transfer that infused the market bubble, and he was sold for 35.8 to Chelsea

First of all, price tag isn't even something that mattered most in the deal and you're talking as if everyone was in the running for his signature lol. Ever asked yourself why they didn't manage to?

It's not that they didn't manage, it's that they were [mistakenly] not interested

Loving how you put forward statements that you know (or at least think) can never be questioned.

Besides it's nonsense. Wenger and Zidane were both vocally after him that year, the latter complimented him several times in the following years. Was also on Mourinho's wishlist at United that summer, but Woodward emptied their coffers on other players.

Personality was always a far bigger factor than money. He's not the guy to join a big side after his first great year. Barcelona would be even lower in the pecking order since it'd be a new country, a new language and an entirely different role to play.

Might be, but that's speculation. Besides Chelsea were firmly a big side, had won the league a year before Leicester.

In the end, my accusation was against Barca's board and (non-existent) plan for not contemplating his case and trying to sign him that summer with the price tag he had.

How do you know they didn't try? Provided they were bringing in Frenchmen that year, Kante was the next best candidate. Plus they tried to sign him two years later after the Roma masterclass. Don't know why you feel the need to judge this particular case and from a clearly uninformed position.

Far more reasonable to say they were in a poorer position to sign him anyway provided the Kante decision making.

BTW
Don't know why people suddenly rate him again now. He's a very good player, but relies heavily on his endurance which is only getting worse. And has tasted the CM life far too much as well.

.

At least for Barca my position is not uninformed. There was not a single rumor (let alone a substantial journalist report) about him back then.
The only link with him was in 2018 after World Cup as you say, and that even was a leak that was not backed by info from sources close to the decision making centers
