Official Board Agree To CVC Deal

Slight tangent.

Media reported this/last week that Roberto can not be renewed right now because of the salary cap. Does that mean if we are over the cap that current contracted players can still be registered, but renewed contracts breach the cap and can not be registered?

Look back at Messi's case. He was not allowed to renew his contract due to salary cap before the start of the season and the LFP rule of player not being allowed to reduce his salary no more than 50%.

Under these circumstances you can sign players and contracts only in the winter transfer window, transfer budget being 1/2 of club's income, because it's January, the half-season and the 1/4 rule is halved. But then again you take over all of the burden of that into the summer transfer window.

We had to unregister a load of players.

So by this, our Cap for this market may have even grown.

Idk currently about our cap, but it was definitely negative before the CVC deal and we couldn't have signed anyone unless selling our top players.

Also remember reading that last summer Laporta talked to Tebas to arrange the CVC deal faster as Messi and his father were getting more nervous. The CVC deal was done by December last year I think.

I think that's false. It's the 8,2% deal more reliable. I read in few articles it's not CVC buying those 25% TV rights but other unnamed companies interested and there will be an extraordinary assembly on June 16 to vote on selling those rights. My guess is it is the Goldman Sachs offer.

Otherwise selling 25% for let's say 40 years is suicide, I agree.

At minimal calculation Barca receives around 160m from La Liga TV rights only, 25% of it is 40m x 40 years = 1,6 billion deal and we talk about 270m for a half century... Has to be false, mate.

Initially the reports from 2Playbook there were CVC, Goldman Sachs and possibly other companies but the latest report from them yesterday (the revised one) clearly stated it was CVC. It doesn't matter whether the first 270m corresponds to 8.2% or 10%, if we were to trust 2Playbook (one of the best sports business outlets in Spain) that it is CVC and not others, the fact of the matter is they will get 25% of our future TV rights for possibly 540m, first 270m through the regular CVC deal and the second 270m through a company set up by us to be the rights owner of TV rights.

In the end it doesn't really matter, CVC or not, if we are only getting 540m for 25% of our future TV rights. Yeah, your math is correct, it is so bad that it makes no sense. But yes, that is essentially what Laporta and the club are going to do.

Thats not true.

Messi could ave renewed but issue was they let the contract expire.

While that 50% decrease claim has been debunked.

The 1/4 rule was still in place in Jauary but is increased for players on larger salaries.

Sounds fantastic to renew Messi playing for 1 euro p/a but that's not the case and Messi camp denied being offered to play for free at Barca.

LaLiga director general Javier Gomez:
The signing of Ferran came halfway through the season, so only half of the cost counts towards this season," Gomez said. "They had Yusuf Demir on loan with an option to buy but he left in January, so that gave them capacity to sign. Sergio Aguero had to retire. [Philippe] Coutinho left, with his high contract. And also [a new contract was agreed] with [Samuel] Umititi. With those savings, they were able to make those signings.

Now fans know more than the president of the club.

When he can lie about Messi then aye dont take it at face value when he talks about Roberto.

You probably believed him when said Barca are 'BACK!' as big players in market this summer to be fair.

Fake news

Laporta has informed Xavi that Bar?a, pending the approval of the socis, will activate two economic levers: The partial sale of BLM and signing the CVC deal.

? @sport

Apparently there's fakenews going around CVC wasn't signed and we would rather sell 25% of tv rights for 50 years

I hope it isn't true
