Was he overwhelmed in the CL then or? Maybe it worked better for him in the Portuguese league than playing in Europe.

Against Bayern, sure. All the team was, but was crucial on the other matches. Rubens Neves is the best prospect in Portugal, but plays a bit deeper, quite like Pirlo in Juve. He's too good for his age, lets see if he keeps improving. His game reading is superb, aswell as his passing game. Needs to toughen up a bit.

Oh, sorry.
They're the Porto fans I know of on this forum(I'm sure I've missed someone too though). Thought they could shed some more light on that.
I love Ruben Neves! He can become such a great player IF he keep his feet planted. Hopefully he stays at Porto for a 2-3 years too and don't leave for Chelsea or a team like that.

He seems to be a smart kid and humble. Porto is the perfect place for him to grow, and he loves the club which is always nice.

Oliver is great talent but he really doesn't fit Simeone's system at all.
He was loaned out to Villarreal and then Porto and I heard he did well in both stints. Simeone brought him back and gave him the #10 since Arda left and joined us seemed like Simeone wanted Torres to be Arda's Replacement. But He struggled to adapt to the Role and was criticized by Atletico fans for playing Poorly when he started or being subbed on.
He's a smart kid has a lot of talent but like I said he doesn't fit Simeone's system and with players like Koke,Gabi,Tiago,Saul and new comers like Kranevitter,Augusto Fernández,Thomas Partey and even Yannick being able to play the roles Simeone wants them to it's hard for Oliver to break into the team again.

Fc Porto in the last year and a half have not been playing great football. Oliver was like an oasis. One thing i almost now for sure: his type of football is not made for Atletico.
Ruben Neves has great portential but like i said FC Porto is in a turmoil. Players resent this kind of things. Just look at Alves, Pique and many others during Tata´s era.
A good coach and system makes all the difference.

Do you think Lopetegui is a bad coach?
He was in Porto. Cant judge him for 1 club. He was very disappointing. Horrible football, a good squad and not a single trophy in 18 months...
