Óscar Mingueza

Lenglet has been a horror show, used his hand again to climb on top of the defender for a header. Absolutely boneheaded defender. Mingueza should continue being a starter.

True but Mingueza also makes mistakes (less silly but still serious).

If you think it's lack of competition that makes Lenglet underperform, you won't help it by benching him for a worse player with no potential to develop all that much.

Benching him for Araujo would make a statement, for instance. Sadly, we're in deep shit so don't blame Koemann for trying.

Lenglet shouldn’t be anywhere near starting 11 in the future. So makes no difference to me who plays. Currently Lenglet makes more mistakes.

Lenglet is clearly better than Mingueza but he undoubtedly needs to get benched to learn a real lesson as serghei said.

He's playing like a guy who is coasting on the idea he's an automatic starter because our other options are either not experienced (Araujo, Mingueza) or crocked(Umtiti). Fuck that shit I'm glad he's getting the bench treatment by Koeman, His performances have been nothing short of disgraceful this season.

If he wants to get his spot back he needs to really step the fuck up.

Not only that. But this guy's sale should already be in the plans. If a player does that after just 2 seasons, he's not worth it keeping around for many years. If he happens to have a good form in the future, and we receive a serious offer, we should sell.

CB, like GK, is an area where you can't have players with focus problems, motivational problems, players who clown around and don't take their job seriously.

Lenglet has screwed up hard in basically every game he has played. Oscar should continue starting, no doubt about that.

Also, let's not forget - Mingueza is coming off a 15-16 game season in Segunda B with a grand total of about 30 games down there. He's basically been thrown right into the fire, and I think he's been okay considering that. Given that we basically have no other defenders, he can be given some time to learn and get better. I'm not saying we've found our future CB pairing but if he gets better over the next month or so, he will go from an arguable step up from Lenglet to an undisputed one.

Best path would be to sign a top young CB and have that player with Araujo as potential starters, with Mingueza and Lenglet as subs and squad options.

Club is pushing for Eric Garcia, who is like Pique and Lenglet in terms of style.

He would actually fit well with Araujo, who is the Athletic, Physical CB of the two.

Although he is indeed young, he is doing a very fine impression of being the type of center back who will go out there and pretty regularly lose the game for you. Young is not enough, should never start for Barca.

Overreaction. He was beaten by a great "9" move by Gomez who also had a superb first touch finish with the exterior of his foot. Regular golazo that, reminding of prime Suarez. It's not like Mingueza scored an own goal or something. Defenders are beaten several times in a close match by super forward actions, even the elite ones.

Besides that, Mingueza participated in the 2-1 goal.

It was a good performance vs Valencia, with some errors, which are expected. Lenglet is the one that made real blunders that directly cost us many points. So far, Mingueza did fine. Better than I expected from an unknown name before a couple of months ago.

Mingueza def. Messed up some game earlier(corner or something) but again I prefer his player type over super soft and slow Lenglet.

Lenglet is not a good fit for Barca. Especially now with Koeman. We play high line and Lenglet is badly exposed in that.

I think that's why Koeman is playing Min over Lenglet.

Mingueza is doing better than could be expected really but he does have moments where he switches off and bit too many when flies in to challenges and can leave defence exposed.

Good on ball and calm when has to deal with it but a bit like Todibo he tries to win anything that moves and can be drawn out of position to do it.

Cant complain with him though he has filled his role and more when called upon.

Mingueza is doing better than what I expected.

Even though it costs us points, as long as he learns from his mistakes, hopefully it'll be worth it in the future.

Mingueza over Lenglet for me atm.

Should try him at DM sometime.

He has some pretty great attributes that are suitable for that position.

Not good enough on the ball and wouldn't be able to play with his back turned against the opponents.
Would basically be a worse version of Mascherano who despite being a world class DM mostly struggled in Busi's position.
