This is the first couple of seasons (this last one especially) he has been injury free and actually showed improvement. We can't say that Xavi has nothing to do with it, because if he had gone to city and improved as he did, everyone would suck Pep's balls and attribute the player's evolution to him.
But don't be fooled. He is a good winger, but this is national team football and France is a powerhouse compared to 90% of the others. Griezmann looks great in this NT, but we all seen what he is capable of in actual club level competitive football. Too many players looked like world beaters in world cups and never actually reached the level again.
To be clear. Dembele currently is probably our best attacking player.

Also makes sense as it's just a 2-year contract, surely we'll prefer taking 50m than letting him go for free
