Three possibilities:

1. Picked up yet another injury
2. Valverde is punishing him for doing something stupid off the pitch yet again
3. Valverde has given up counting on him and Fati has moved up in the pecking order

Option one is unlikely as we would have heard if he was hurt by this point. Most likely two or three.

If option three then what a waste of money!

What a tragedy.

If Dembele was smart and not so stubborn he would have agreed to leave the club this summer. At the very least we would have recouped 80m.

Neymar would be back.

Instead we have to deal with this horror for yet another year and have average Perez or child Fati as our only real wing options.

Also Neymar being almost 28 and injured himself is irrelevant. Lad is the 2nd best player in the world by far, Dembele not so much.

Ultimately, none of the options changes the bottom line. A continued failure - I gave up on him after the failure to disclose/report his last injury so while an exciting prospect the reality is that he flatters to deceive

4. Valverde doesn't have the balls to make Fati first attacking sub with Dembele also sitting there.

Let's wait and see if he has a knock though. Fati should be competing for AML with Travolta and Dembele at AMR with Messi. So in that regard it really should be Carles Perez who misses out.

So Fati and Perez are better than Dembele...

If anyone truly believes this they should be ashamed of themselves.

Perez playing any part of this match was a joke. He's barely played this season..... and he's not good enough anyway. If Valverde seriously thought he was a better option than Dembele, he's lost his damn mind. And I don't think Dembele is even that good.

I am far from a Dembele fan, but situations like today's match is where I think his best use to us is.

When we are down, have nothing to lose and desperately need a spark Dembele is more than adequate enough. His negative clown shite would not cost us anything and if by chance he manages to pull something brilliant out of his arse like he does from time to time it will have all been worth it.
