All top coaches, Pep Tuchel Pochetino Nagelsman, look at ways to improve the xG output of their team, and ways to concede less xG
Read the story of how Tuchel singled out Aubameyang in his early Dortmund days and instructed him not to ever shoot again from the edge of the box, but always look to take his shots more centrally facing the goal. Then his shot-map changed, as he was shooting most of the time from good positions, and that in return skyrocketed his goal tally that season.
It's about optimizing the chances you create. It's football science that not only all top coaches take into account these days, but also whole departments work on

Many people are biased against Dembele for various reasons and they project that every time something happens.
Now it was a header that most finishers out there will not convert, and if one having not watched it reads the last 5 pages here will think he was on an empty net and missed

Dembele will be at his best at a level of team he is their best player and can be built for him to have freedom and cover for his errors.
Too inconsistent for a possession team like Barca where he isnt the best player and cant perform the basics often enough when ultimately in place to compliment someone else.
I dont think Laporta came into Barca with any plan or a clue what he would do and extending Dembele and trying all can to keep Messi happy is sign of it.

It must be the many things mentioned here as 'arguments' against him: like that he is 'dumb', he eats junk food,he plays video games, he gets injured (which he has stopped), and other stuff of similar taste

You don't decide that based on what your eyes see.
It's a statistical norm. It has been calculated according to the parameters most xG models are using, some of which are:
- relative position of the shot
- number of opp. players ahead of the shooter
- position of opp. players ahead
- position of the GK
- speed of the pass
- angle of the shot
and many others...
