This guy has zero tactical awareness. He doesnt know when and where to position himself and run. All speed in this world wont help him if he is behaving like a stone. Its easy to cover him. His first touch is also off most of the time. He is not progressing one bit since he joined us. Doesnt look good for him.

The next problem is valverde and his slow ass system in which he will never succeed.

Apart from that, he is doing great lol

LMAO at Valverde apologists shitting on Dembele for going on vacation while completely ignoring the fact that Valverde is the one who GAVE the players that vacation.

Rumour has it he fucked up the flight and ended up in Singapore, not Senegal. Barcelona to Singapore is a minimum 12hr flight

Sure...
Why not Australia, not far from Singapore and it is the winter there.
Anyone who has traveled anywhere in the last 20 years know that is is impossible, boarding cards are read by computers and a change of flight is impossible nowadays.

But those who hate the guy, would like to send him to the south-pole (without a coat), so they invent shit like this... but but but the serious problem starts when there are brainless humans who actually believe it...

Sorry, but his place is on the bench. I hope Suarez and Messi are back fast.

Too bad Arsenal already spent 80m on Nicolas Pepe. Maybe we could have sold him there next year because I have some serious doubts about his future here beyond this season.

Right now, I'll take his performances from last season where he helped us win some very tight games.

Sure, but I'll still sell him at the end of the season even if he scores a few goals. Goals aside he's too erratic and have some serious flaws in his game that shouldn't be dependent on a manager to improve.

Significant risk of him turning out to be like Douglas Costa rather than a World Class player.

I would say the ability to go past your man is probably the most important thing for a winger to be able to do, after good decision making of course, which is essential for all positions.

Costa at least is consistent in his ability to repeteadly go past his man. Dembele's dribbling in a match, however, is either a 10/10 completed dribbles with insane slalom runs or 1/10 with him tripping himself. The man is an enigma... And EV is not the manager to inculcate consistensy in him.

Even with some of his insane slalom runs he's tripping on himself and making some poor touches. He's great in open space, but unlike other great dribblers look completely out of place when he has to be precise, have a good touch and make the right decision to go past a player.

A better coach would be able to put him in a better position to succeed or maybe push him harder to do specific things, but no one can make his first touch and dribbling consistent. Going from looking like the new Neymar to Lukaku is perhaps just the type of player he'll always be.

Also, the fact that other players still have to point out to him when to make runs behind the defence where he can actually use his pace to open up the defence for us, is disappointing.

Dembele is just not pro-active enough in a lot of ways. Often ballwatching, just standing in one place and running into someone, waiting for the ball.

Yea, almost exclusively a counter attacking player. Which is why he is still of use in matches where we have to sit back more and exploit spaces on the counter. But in the matches where we have to unlock a good defense through possession he is near useless because of his sub par ball control in tight spaces and inconsistent decision making regarding passing.

Of all the young players that haven't developed under Valverde, he is the least to blame for Dembele.
