He was playing for a mess of a Valencia team with Barca being the only true major team interested in him. Wasn't really a bad career choice. Just didn't turn out as expected.

As for Ødegaard he went to a Real Madrid not exactly known for talent development or at least using those talents themselves. A lot of people here were telling him to look at Christian Eriksen's career path. Ajax were interested in signing him, PSV were interested in signing him. He went for the glory and money over those two.

Looking back when Barca, Real, Liverpool and Bayern were after him I was saying he should go to Ajax who had a plan for him which they presented to his father and him, but the allure of training with Madrid's 1st team and the higher financial offer was apparently too much for him to resist.

Already regretting digging this up. Such washed up arguments repeated to the n'th degree by people who just see "Real" next to his name and associate his thinking with "gold-digger" behaviour...

Alcacer had, or still has, potential to surpass the likes of Aspas or Rodrigo. It's completely daft to think you'd get anything beyond CdR minutes with MSN ahead of you in rotation. Completely the opposite of what a 23-year old (that has already proven he isn't a mid-table striker) should do. Even moving across to Seville would have been a better choice, because at least he would have a shot at displacing the likes of Gameiro, they're Europa League mainstays and constantly fishing for 4th spot. Porto, Benfica, plenty of teams that would be a better choice. I always felt sorry for him with the amount of shit Barca fans threw his way when they realised he's leagues behind any of the three and cannot work as a rotation option.

Hope he makes an impact in Germany, but the style of the league doesn't really favour latino players.

Paco was given the respect needed at Barcelona, both by directors and players. The fact he never adapted to the system is visible when you rewind all his Barca matches played and also statistics. Lucho played him mostly as CF as a sidekick to Suarez, he tried to act in David Villa way, it didn't work. Valverde experimented with Paco in both CF and RW roles, all in all it was mostly the Sevilla game he'll be remembered at Barcelona. To think he was about to explode in his third season at Barcelona without any proof or sign in training and friendlies this summer is just nonsense wishfull Real Madrid fan's troll talk.

No doubt, in my mind, the 2015/16 and 2016/17 summer transfer windows at FC Barcelona turned out the worst signings for the club since 2001. Except for Umtiti.

I wouldn't compare Paco to Mayoral or anyone outside the club. Some of you probably remember Santiago Ezquerro...

According to this we can...

Borussia Dortmund retains an option to buy the player for 23 million euros plus 5 million in variables and FC Barcelona retain the right to refuse that option. FC Barcelona will retain 5% of any future profit from the sale of the player by Borussia Dortmund to a third party.

It's a poor translation. Barcelona keeps the Right of first refusal. We can match the price at which Dortmund would be selling him to a third party, in case of selling, they have to offer him to us first for the price in question.

Sell Munir and get Martial on a loan with an option to buy for 50m.

Not gonna happen I know

Haha would be perfect though.. I rate Martial.. think Mourinho has ruined him. The seasons he did play more he looked very dangerous.

This make more sense but I think I've read before about clubs having an option to reject other club to execute buy option so I think this was the case here.

I think he'll do good there. I could see him scoring 15-20 league goals.

Tier 1 for Borussia:

Saying it's a wrong translation. According to his information it's the right of first refusal.

If we can refuse to sell and ask for more money/sell to someone else, it's like having no option at all. Makes no sense to me.

edit: The club changed its official statement.

Borussia Dortmund retains an option to buy the player for 23 million euros plus 5 million in variables and FC Barcelona has the right to match any future transfer offer of a third football club. Furthermore, FC Barcelona will retain 5% of any future profit from the sale of the player by Borussia Dortmund to a third party.

Why this wouldn't work if both clubs agreed to that?

Because there isn't any point in a buyout option if the selling club doesn't have to honor it. It's basically like the option wouldn't exist and it's just a plain normal loan.
