In that Brazil x Argentina Fernandinho was man marking Messi but he got a yellow few minutes in the game.Then Tite changed Paulinho position to mark Messi and he did pretty well.
Also almost scored a cracking goal dribbling argentinian CBs and got his goal in the end of the game.
Another thing is, of course Messi was watching the South America qualifiers and knew Paulinho was playing in excellent level.

Apparently it was Andre Cury our South American scout that recommended him to Robert.Still puzzled how the hell did this turn out so well

Interesting thing is that paulinho does not show anything special, he scored some goals against minions, now here
