Paulinho

Many in here seem to expect Paulinho to play like Xavi/Iniesta.

We brought Paulinho as a squad player and as someone who can bring something different, and he does exactly that.

As for being a starter. Whoever said that Paulinho has the quality to be a Barcelona starter? It's like you know, we just spend 150m euros in order to get our starting midfielder.

Moreover, Paulinho is on course to outscore every Barca midfielder since I honestly don't know when.

Barçapocalypse NOW!
He was way too wide, and that put him in uncomfortable situations, being marked by up to three men... Not his best game, but the tactics didn't do him any favors...

Hes anything but a midfielder. He doesnt contribute much more than tapping in goals.
He shouldnt be anything more than a supersub.
To risky to play in bigger games.

The only player in the midfield, and maybe the squad, who actually knows how to hold a ball. His importance are in his runs to open spaces, his ability to hold the ball, his killer instinct infront of the goal, his ability to bring the ball down. One of my favorite players this season, although I'm still not too sure how he would measure up against tougher opponents in the CL.

Holy shit. After all the things Paulinho has brought us this still gets repeated. He doesn't need to be some fucking passing maestro, he is a player that brings us versatility and physicality which we have lacked for a long time. The man is getting us points left and right and all I hear is this retarded whining.

lolol, and after he shines against real madri, they still bash him, he simply cant b used with Gomes, gomes was shit as usual

LOL, this meme has gotten out of hand. I hope Valverde realizes that Paulinho is a striker through and through. He can’t dribble, pass or press. His tackling is god awful, but his instincts in the penalty area are second to none. He can barely run anymore, he clearly needs to play as a 9. It helps the team and himself.

Miss Keita so much who offered us real versatility and physicality.

You can't compare Paulinho to Keita... Keita was a positionally astute box to box midfielder.

Paulinho's game is very different. He relies on movement.

That said, he should never be played in wide position again.

It's as if Iniesta and Busquets both died the moment Paulinho showed up or something.

"He brings goals so we should start him" is perhaps the single most simplified argument I've heard on here. He doesn't score enough to make up for his deficiencies in the middle of the park. You have got to keep in mind his job is to be a midfielder, not a striker, the goals are just a bonus and definitely don't justify the lack of quality or control he offers us down the middle.

Some people don't have to get fooled by the goals he's making. Defensively he's making a lot of mistakes, he has to improve his midfield play imo. Yesterday he wasn't great at all, for me one of the worst even.

Sorry, this is the only place where Paulinho isn't getting absolute plaudits. Only place..

I think the undertone here is starting to get a bit racist. Neymar suffered the same in this forum, Alves too.

If Paulinho was pale and blonde and called Paulinović, and had the same performances, he'd be called a maestro, key player, etc
