Paulinho

Explain to me how could he possibly be a 1st choice in a 433, in 4231 of course he would be a starter, but in 433 hes not replacing Busquets, and hes a better midfielder than Roberto, Rakitic, I would rather give every minute to a developing Alena than Paulinho in a 4-3-3 cm. If he is a bench player for Busquets then I don't mind, in that position he is obviously better than Samper, Roberto, Gomes, Mascherano.

Who said that we'll play 433?
Let's wait to see Valverde's ideas.

In 4231, he is surely a starter with Busi.

In 433, I don't see him as a starting Cdm, but as a starter Cm.
Busi-Iniesta-Paulinho or Busi-Rakitic-Paulinho.

You could have seen MD's article today.
They claim that he is a star player, a b2b midfielder.
Our Lampard.

Again, imo, there is like 1% chances that we are buying a 40m Nt player aged 29, and that Raki, Iniesta and Roberto will be infront of him in pecking order.

He will be a starter in 4231.
And either a starter as a cm in 433, or the first sub option (3rd in a pecking order).

Btw, I don't like Paulinho.
But a club is NOT buying a 40m guy with 5m net wages to bea 6th option behind Iniesta, Raki, Roberto, Gomes, Denis, Rafinha etc

This is the board's big signing.

Paulinho won't start ahead of iniesta rakitic or even gomes, he is a backup player even in a 4231 (we will probably use busquets rakitic double pivot in that formation)

You don't spend 30-40m on a backup. That's probably why Gomes saw so much time and why Paulinho will likely be the same.

No way we would play Rakitic - Busquets - Paulinho. Thats sounds good defensively but our forwards would never get the ball.

Yes. If we wanted a plan B or a different type of a player for the last 20 minutes, we would probably buy a cheaper 10-15M guy who adds something different, who is not a starter, and who is not having high wages.

I know.
But Iniesta-Busi-Raki is a crap. Iniesta and Raki can't run anymore. 433 with those 3 as starters wasn't working for the last 18 Months. This is why we tried 343. Raki-Iniesta are 4-5 Months older now, and they surely won't start to play better suddenly.
They can only get even worse and more slow and tired.
Any formation with Gomes is a crap.
Denis is a ghost.
Rafinha is a squad level.
Roberto is hyped currently on this forum, but he played 20-ish matches as a CM in the last 3 years and people expect him to be a starter with Barca's level performances.

Raki-Paulinho-Busi is a crap, I agree.
But as explained above, virtually any midfield trio is a crap currently.

Our midfield is poor for years and now we added Arda, Gomes, Denis and Paulinho.
130M on transfer fees and 100M on wages over 2-3-4 years.

We played 343 because Roberto was a problem, it was like playing without RB, I can guarantee if that cunt never double legged Vidals ankle we would have never seen 343.

So, you think that our midfield in a 433 didn't suck, and that we as a team, sucked because we didn't have a proper RB.
(I think that we went to a 343 BOTH because our 3-men midfield sucked lately and because of a lack of a RB.)
But then, in 2015/16, we had Dani Alves as a RB, and yet our 433 and midfield sucked insanely.

So, yes, RB was a problem in 2016/17.
But midfield was a problem both in 2016 and 2017.

This is why I don't expect that we will again and again play with Busi-Raki-Iniesta as starters.
Those guys (in that combination) are not good enough anymore for major trophies.

This is why I think that we will either play 4231 with Paulinho or some 433 with Paulinho.

No need for Paulinho if we are going to play 4231, we have Samper who needs a coach who believes in him and gives him those minutes.

If he comes, 1 or 2 of our midfielders is getting sold.
Unrelated to him but, our midfield was bad by our standards this year but let's not forget that we're getting a new coach and Lucho wasn't exactly a mastermind at tactics. I'm speculating, but many issues in our center of the field may not be related to player's sole abilities but rather their tactical orders, and Valverde will definitely change that. So a bad midfield under Lucho may very well improve a lot under E.V., the quality is there, we won the treble with this midfield.

Well, Interlop, we won the treble two years ago with this starting midfield, when they were two years younger. I'm sure that at least one or two of last year's midfield herd will leave the team, regardless of which midfielder gets bought.

Out of the returning midfielders, the only ones I expect to see improve are S. Roberto and Aleix Vidal. D Suarez and Rafinha might get better, or might not leave the bench, could go either way. The older ones will definitely get worse. I'm not optimistic about Gomes, his best shot is with a different team.

Perhaps Sergi Roberto will be a fixed starter in midfield and become a real monster next season. Its possible. He has a great engine, is a smart player and with more confidence he has some sick attacking moves although I think his best position is DM, he might be a great CM too.
