Pedro Rodriguez

He was good today. But it's more important to see that he keeps getting better and is regaining his old form.
Considering his class I can never doubt this player.
If you watch him play, one can simply feel that he's just one goal away from being back in business. And that will happen. On Sunday - versus fuckin' Santander. You heard it here first.

I've never thought Pedro a fantastic player. However he gave us what we needed most- intense work rate and goals, no matter how random his goals were.

When you take his goals out of the picture he doesn't bring much to the table. He isn't an intelligent passer (short or long), his tiki taka is OK and his runs are mediocre at best. What annoys me the most is that he never takes his man on, ever, and when he does he loses the ball.

I appreciate what he's done for us but if he doesn't pick it up I'll prefer Cuenca and especially Tello any day of the week.

completely disagree. pedro's interplay is just brilliant, his one-touch passing is excellent, especially short passes

I wonder why people keep saying he can't take on his man.

I clearly remember how he sodomised Koscielny and won us a penalty vs Arsenal in last season's CL...and there are many other instances.

He was very good today. I don't get what people are complaining about. I was one of the people that criticized him for his sub par performances a few months ago but since then he is clearly trying his hardest and is obviously improving. he is in the right path and will only get better. we must be thankful to have a player like him. no complaints or sulking or selfishness, he does not shy away from challenges although he obviously lacks confidence and he forces himself to stay mindful in the game, although it is very hard for a player who has lost the full trust on himself. He is in a very tough position but he only focuses on working hard and tries his most to give his all. his psychological problem would only come off by getting a constant run of games as plip said and getting a few goals to get him his confidence back. what he needs now is patience and trust from the team and Pep and i hope he'll get it, because after all these years he deserves it
Just how many players would you find that have these characteristics all in one: humble, hardworking, unselfish, tactically aware, intelligent, great passer, not injury prone, an eye for goal, excellent understanding with our best players (just see how natural his 1-2 with Leo and Xavi are), great positioning on the pitch, providing support to midfield, attack and defense through his work rate and intelligent positioning....

he used to take on his man successfully on lots and lots of occasions last seasons but his low mentality right now is preventing him from going bold in most occasions.
Let's not forget that it is for Pedro's existence that Tello, an inexperienced young prospect, is able to play among the big boys with no pressure. If he had to feel like one of the main guys who had to carry the team with no substitutes to lessen the pressure on him, who knew how he would respond? But Pedro is there so Tello doesn't still feel like a first team player with a first team player responsibilities. Pedro is very tough mentally and it is his mental strength that keeps the pressure off Tello and the young guys, this is something we can see that Cuenca for example still needs to work on...Pedro does not back away from challenge even when low in moral and although he is not at his top form we can still count on him . this kind of player is invaluable specially with the injury mess that we are in right now. Now that there are no pressure for league games thanks to Madrid, it is best time to start helping Pedro back in shape.
Seems like many of us only need our players to break their bones to appreciate their worth...*sigh*

Pedro is very slowly getting back to his best.

his problem is that his touch & control was always dodgy, even when he was flying, and his intense physicality was the backbone of his play; so the injuries set him back more than most. but now he's recovering we're starting to see the old Pedro emerge. he's showing for the ball more, making more darting runs, it's all very encouraging.

he's scored huge goals against Real & Milan, so I don't think his finishing has gone anywhere, which is the biggest boon as his ability to be johnny-on-the-spot is huge for us, especially with Villa out injured.

He worked hard but why does he seem to do the harder thing better than the easier one? Sometimes I feel like he doesn't really want to score...confidence issues? The old Pedrito of 09/10 would have grabbed a hat trick tonight.

that goal would have been an icing to his performance tonight. getting better with every time. i think he reach his peak to the madrid game in 7-8 games.
