@barcastuff: 100% Fake > Barcelona coach Guardiola wanted to sell Alves, Pique, Cesc and Villa last year [by francois gallardo on intereconomia radio]

@barcastuff: note: the supposed agent who claimed this is a fantasist also responsible for the drogba-barcelona and terry-valencia stories #fcblive

If anyone was believing that crap, there you go.

I don't think anyone was believing that but I would just like to point that there is no way the club would acknowledge it even if it was true, so your quotes aren't really evidence of anything as you seem to think they are.

The former quotes are no evidence of anything also.

I find it funny to post something and then minutes later post it's a fake.
Why would you use shitty sources in the first place.

Waste of time and space.

I never said the article from AS was true, I even stated in my first post that as it is from AS, it is most certainly major bullshit. I still thought it was an interesting read and decided to post it. I'll refrain from doing it in the future seeing what a shitstorm people make out of everything.

It's probably bollocks but there still might be a bit of truth in the story.

Alves is 29 and his form has completely detoriated since the second half of last season. Something is obviously wrong with him for a while now. Complacency? Past his prime? Who knows. What I know is that he's our worst fullback this season by far. While at the same time Montoya is a huge prospect ready to step in. From a footballing point of view I wouldn't find it unreasonable even now if we could cash in for him. He's on huge wages (almost Xavi and Iniesta level) but doesn't provide THAT much more than Montoya nowadays. His best times are behind him not ahead of him. He will definitely not stay here for 3+ more years anyway with Montoya riding the bench.

Villa will be 31 soon and he's coming back from a leg break. Nothing to do with his attitude or performances but Pep might have seen Sanchez as the long term replacement and wanted to make room for Sanchez, simply because of age reasons.

Pique is the biggest celebrity in this squad who's obviously not always focused on his football. A very un-Pepish footballer actually. If he weren't from La Masia, he'd definitely be gone for the attitude he's shown last season.

Cesc. I don't know. Maybe Pep realized that he isn't a Barcelona style midfielder. Maybe it was his attitude. Maybe he realized Thiago was a better option for the future?

It would have been a huge change of the team and dressing room dynamics but that's maybe exactly what Pep wanted to keep on winning. Something new. This is the same guy who got rid of Ronaldinho, Deco, Eto'o and Ibra after 1 season. Does it seem that unreasonable that he might have wanted to replace Alves with Montoya, Pique with Hummels or Bartra or Muniesa or Mascherano (Puyol and Mascherano played the most together last season after all) and sell 30 year old Villa + Cesc? It's probably bullshit but if someone asked me which players Pep would sell if he had to, Alves and Villa would top the list IMO. And if someone asked me which player is the most un-Pepish player attitude-wise, it would be Pique.

I doubt there's any truth to this story for the simple fact that selling so many players would totally unsettle the others. No way Pep would do that.

Now that I read what Ursegor wrote above, it got me thinking that there might be something to it.
All 4 players mentioned are kinda struggling this season (injuries or poor form).

I also do agree with Ursegor, but i don't believe he'd want Villa out, any manager would love to have Villa in the squad & i don't see him causing unrest in the dressing room either, it's not in his character imo. I certainly agree about the Pique/Alves as no doubt a little complacency has drifted into these two, even though i think that's natural after winning so much in a short space. But certainly agree with the point on Pique's new celebrity status.

I find it funny to claim something to be a waste of time and space and then change my mind when someone else pointed out the obvious.

When it comes to these types of stories that pop up in the media, one always has to be aware of the circumstances surrounding these types of stories. What are Gallardos reasons for spilling these beans at this particular moment? Why does he use a Catalan radio station and not a Spanish one? Why so blatantly pointing the message towards the Blaugranas? For whom is Gallardo running this smear campaign, he certainly is't benefiting from it on a personal level as a FIFA agent dealing with the club. There are many things working in the background that us as audience never find out, one should be very skeptical when stories like these ones appear out of nowhere.

I don't want to read anything into this story as I believe it is take out of context and adapted for whatever reason. Carrasco who might know what he is talking about or might be full of BS said players had been discussed, now when it comes to Piqué and Alves I can buy that, but with Cesc and Villa at most there was debate about their long term future. Pep would not ask for Cesc and then 6 months later demand that he is sold, that is absolutely ridiculous. Even more so when we consider that the decision on Tito as a possible replacement was already in process by Christmas.

When there's smoke there's fire ! It's not weird even a tiniest bit, there will always be those with the intentions of unsettling fans or players. Villa, Alves, Pique... They had their fails, and when Pep decided to quit, it just gave someone a reason to connect everything possible with his leaving. There's million sides of this story, but suddenly this one became important because this Francois Gallardo said it ...
