Semi-Neutral
Sir Alupp Heynrguson
That is not encouraging...
He originally started out on the left when we first got him, and his impact was immediate, but that's down to the fact we never had a creative player like him for years, after he started playing more centrally it almost became taboo to play him out wide because he's just so much better behind the striker. He's going to have to be on a good wavelength with Rooney tbh, switching positions, cause if you play him left or right, he's going to need to move centrally to maximize his ability and Rooney will have to take his original position at those times otherwise you'll leave a gap, or they'll end up getting in the way of each other. But on the left he's not bad, his crosses are pretty decent but he's really meant to be played in the middle, no doubts. You'd need a good LB if he's to be played left, he's no pacey winger so a good LB overlapping would do alright. How was he on the left for chelsea? Wasnt he played there in his first season?
4-4-1-1 again, why arent we experimenting, we might be away at the emirates but this game is almost inconsequential. Lets try a more attacking formation (A formation that suits the team as well)
Inter will make him brilliant again.God, Vidic is horrible.
Right before was a perfect example as to why Mata was sold by us, Rosicky running with the ball and Mata was within the type of distance where he could make a challenge with his left foot, but lets Rosicky run. That said, make him work too hard and his attacking ability declines.
Oh yeah, he's not lazy or anything, but it doesn't help him doing more work than what suits his style, play him the right way and he's all class, he just doesn't fit our current system anymore, nothing else. I don't think Mourinho lies when he says he thinks Mata is a fantastic player, he just didn't fit, better to send him somewhere he does.
