Even considering the injuries there is no excuse for such a performance. Of course the team would look much better with Herrera etc but you have Rooney, van Persie and other very good players but I just see players who cross into the box desperately hoping to find a teammate. This is a question of motivation and tactics IMO. One should expect more than that. I don't want to downgrade Sunderland but ManU should be able to play better vs them.

Btw: Same goes for Barca last year.

With that defence they can sign whoever they want. They will still make Connor Wickham like players look like freaking Maradona out there.

Well I mean changing the identity of the team also changes how the defense fares. Their midfield right now is far too weak, they'll get trampled defensively and have no strength offensively. Herrera-Carrick with ADM's defensive engine in front of them is almost infinitely better than Cleverley-Fletcher with Mata there. Then there's also Shaw and Rafael who are quite obviously a huge improvement over their current counterparts Young/Valencia. I can't say that I've ever bothered to observe Blackett and co. but having Jones, Evans, and Rojo together would surely be better than now, correct? Better abilities, workrates, and players who don't play like they belong in Sunday League sides.

A big mistake would be if LVG shunted Di Maria to a LWB/RWB position.

ManU only completed 2 out of 19 crosses. That's how bad they were, especially considering that they were not able to create decent chances in a different way either.

and when you are so poor going forward the opposition will start to take more risks and put our defence under pressure...

Eh? Injuries arent a great excuse, but our midfield and defence is decimated. We have 3 midfielders injured who would all start ahead of the 2 yesterday, 3 defenders out and one without a work permit. The team was weak even before these. There was rarely a forward pass in to the attackers they had to constantly come deep to get the ball, when they did have it in front of goal one of Fletcher or Cleverley would most of the time lose it to then enable a counter. Not to mention the 2 out of position wingers who would rarely give cover to the 3 cb's, just the return of Shaw and Rafael would settle the defence.

^ Fair enough but I still had the feeling that the whole team looked completeley clueless. Of course injuries are a reason but I still think that the players who are available should be able to play better. And you had Mata, Rooney, RVP in attack and the only thing I saw was stupid crosses into the box.
I expect the team to play better once everyone is fully fit again but my point is that the available players should be able to peform better than yesterday, regardless of injuries.

One question: why the hell Man U hasn't even tried to sign our Alex Song? Song was pretty good for Arsenal I think. He's a CM/DM and he's going to be VERY cheap because of our board :lucho:
