I'm sorry but even the worst defence shouldn't concede so many goals. Smalling, Rojo, Blackett are not world class but they're ok. Good tactics would allow for the defenders to be bad but still look good, there are countless examples of teams who are like that, but it's not the case here. I'm confident even Barça B wouldn't have conceded 5 goals against Leceister, does this mean Bagnack and Ié are better than United's defenders?

I don't understand why Van Gaal took off Di Maria and Falcao; perhaps his 2 best players. Mata did nothing but get trampled and Januzaj didn't really do anything. Man U really need a CB even more than we did.
People will laugh at Man U and blame it on Moyes and now Van Gaal but a lot of this falls on Sir Alex Ferguson IMO. He never prepared for the decline and departures of Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Scholes, and Giggs. He just kept patching over it and Van Persie was the last band-aid to get him a title in his last season. Of course Ferguson is a fantastic manager but I think even he would've been in big trouble right now unless he was able to bring in a couple very good defenders.

LVG killed my excitement by taking off ADM. And for a player who's slow, with no defensive workrate in a game the oppn employed constant pressing. I'm glad they lost.
Feel sorry for Blackett who was covering for out of position Rojo, and was their best defender until he got sent off. The team does seem bereft of any proper system. But they could 've done with a leader in defense (the available Benatia) over another striker in Falcao.
