Liverpool play their best against teams like City who are willing to come an attack. However they struggle against teams who put 10 men behind the ball and Counter aka teams like Burnley,Swansea etc. In games like those you need that player/s who can unlock that bus.

They have been a bit better this season against smaller clubs, but this is a more widespread problem that has plagued them in recent seasons. One good run won't rid them of this label.

Even after beating City it was obvious these are the type of games that Liverpool would miss Coutinho.

Not mentality. It is playing styles.
Against teams that sit back and deny them as much space to break they have always struggled more than in open games.
This is exact type games they will miss Coutinho.
Sign VVD and still lose goal from a set piece. It is a weakness that needs addressed more than by just players.

Exactly. What they really miss is a proper centre forward. Firminho is great when you need to press from the front but he doesn't have the strikers instincts or aerial prowess that a proper #9 would. Against a parked bus I don't know why Klopp doesn't just use Sturridge. He might not have the legs he did but he won't need them if Liverpool are completely dominating the ball.

Klopp is tactically too limited. His style does work best against teams who like City but against teams sitting back and when Klopp’s teams have to control play they have huge problems creating stuff a lot more so than i.e. Pep’s teams.
And lack of mentality seems also to play a part. Liverpool repeatedly really loose it and disintegrate when things are going against them.
