We gave stick to our board and rightfully so at times but nothing Bartomeu and Co. ever did compares to United's higher ups buying past it players like Di Maria, Ibra, Schweinsteiger, Falcao and giving Sanchez the highest wages in the Prem. Appointing numpty David Moyes, followed by van Gaal, followed by van Gaal's complete opposite stylistically and then a complete newbie who got relegated with Cardiff. Buying back their own youth product for over € 100M who wants to leave them again and is clowning around 90 % of the time anyway.

Tragic.

 Indeed.

reminder that PSG lost to this team

Their hardest feat to date.

Tbf, Ibra actually did deliver for United, before his injuries.

I don't think we'll see United back in the CL for many years, i could see them ending up in a Liverpool type drought in all honesty (which is pretty sad for such a historic club). the only fast way out is selling their soul to a Qatar/Saudi owner like their rivals City or it'll be the long, hard road Liverpool walked.

Ole is looking like Moyes 2.0 totally out of his depth and it just shows how retarded that Ed Woodword guy is giving him a permanent contract during the honeymoon period, hes the real culprit here. just look at the Sanchez deal also and how its fucked up their wage structure.. now you have youth products like Rashford wanting 200k+

Even this statement shows the massive decline of United. What did Ibrahimovic deliver exactly? I remember United being kicked out by Wolfsburg from CL groups in that season.

He was decent, or okay-sh at best. Obviously past-it.

He scored a bunch of goals, which is what strikers should do, he also played a part in winning a few cups, if i remember correctly.

You cant blame Ibra for United being shite, thats just not fair, its a team game.

United are in deep sh*t at the moment. But they have tons of money, that's the most important factor at play here. As long as their poor results do not affect their sponsorship deals, they are covered.

They're not covered. Not even by a long shot. They have money, but not Qatar or Emirates money.

And also, their problem can't be fixed by money.

They have a big issue in being a not-so-interesting attraction for the best player. They're like not even a top 5 pick now, let alone a top 3. Better players demand a lot of attention, and United can't sign them.

Barca, Madrid, Bayern, Juventus, PSG, City, Liverpool, and arguably Atletico are better teams, paying competitive salaries and proposing better career opportunities at this moment than United.

Tier 1 players aren't available to them (top class established players), and not even tier 2 (very promising top talents).

Dalot, Fred, Matic, Mikitharyan, Baily etc., type of player they got recently... guys, these are tier 3 players.

United even at their peak were still a level below Madrid and Barca. Their top players left them for the Spanish giants when they got the chance, or turned them down for Madrid/Barca.

They don't have to sign the world's super elite in order to improve from where they are. They can settle for less fancied but still great players. Look at how Liverpool (with significantly less money than United) managed to re-emerge as a great team after a long period in which CL football was an exception and not the rule.

Liverpool are an exception because they signed one of the top 3 managers in world football.

Exactly. And that was when they were a top 5 team. Now it's not even a question, they don't even exist as an option for the type of players Barca/Madrid are after.

I'm sure De Jong didn't have United even in his longer list of possible teams to play at. Sure De Ligt doesn't either.

Money talks, they are actually more financially dominant now in comparison to most clubs, than they were back in the late 2000s.

That's just not true.

Top top players are after whole package now. Money + fame + exposure + titles + chance for personal trophies. People talk about money as if the top players don't earn obscene money at pretty much every top top club.

United is very competitive only in the money area, and even there they don't pay the highest salaries.

tons of money compared to what though? PSG and Madrid can easily blow them out the water as can City. Everton, a midtable PL club are able to blow 50mil+ on 1 player these days.. it might of worked in the old days but football has changed

lets look at one of Uniteds rumoured targets, Sancho. why would he leave Dortmund and the CL to revert his career backwards playing in the Europa league? sure United can offer him huge wages but imho the CL is a bigger draw than money to the kind of players they need to get back to the top especially when there are so many CL clubs who can match their finances

anyways, i actually have a kind of soft spot for United so i do hope they manage to get back to atleast some former glory. when Fergie left they should of moved heaven and earth to get Pep, things could of been so different

Exactly. United can use their money to land tier 2 talents like Martial. Not tier 1 talents like Dembele, De Jong, Mbappe etc.

Pogba was a very odd move and, if I may, extremely bad career choice for him. Which is why he is trying to force a move elsewhere.

Money doesn't matter if they are going to spend it on dross. Liverpool got Suarez and Coutinho for a combined 40 million Euros, Salah 40 million, Firmino 40 million etc.

Meanwhile United are buying Fred for 60 million and Lukaku 90 million and Matic 50 million.
