Btw, I believe if you could let Klopp change his midfielders for any midfielder in the world he would reject it. Liverpool’s pressing is the main chance creator. They will probably get John Ginn in the summer aswell, another midfielder like that

Of course he would reject it. They are the best team in the world. They don't need to change anything except try to keep the motivation and the energy up until it inevitably drops.

As much as we shit on the board (rightly so) for the recent purchases, just look at Man city's squad planning at centre back. Kompany just left, they've known for a couple years Otamendi isn't good enough and same for Stones. Only quality cb they have is Laporte who is out all season.

For all of Pep's amazing qualities as a manager, identifying good defenders and organizing a water tight defense isn't one of them.

Which is why he's struggled in European away games/KO ties.

Great cross from TAA to Robertson before the assist. Liverpool’s backs give them so much.

Agree with you. It is what i found really impressive here. I don't see any team that can do that. TAA ball completely changed the play there and Robertson had a perfect delivery. Very difficult to defend.

Two things both Liverpool and Man City do which Barcelona haven't done since 2015/16 is moving the ball so quickly.

And even then, he was the one that threw away the tie against Spurs in the Champions League.

I agree to an extent but my gripe is more with the level of other top teams in Europe.

Well, Liverpool has an unmatched level of fitness and intensity. This is what actually makes a difference in those big games. Sure, you can be more technically gifted but when they are always pressing, closing down the pass lines, relentless defending and attacking, it becomes hard. And Liverpool has a lot of technically gifted players. Just look at the quality of their crosses. You don't need to be able to dribble 5 players like Dembélé if you can put a pinpoint cross for your forwards.

Yea, defensive signings is certainly a flaw of Guardiola. You need good no-nonsense defenders too, not only guys who can pass from the back. Most of City's defenders are pretty mediocre at... defending.

Where is City's Puyol to put in the lean mean tackles, wrestle with attackers and organize the defense, basically lead by example in all that is defense related?

Hurts to see this level of pace, intensity and movement in a football game. We haven't see this since...well...

Honestly though we get absolutely slaughtered if we played either of these two teams. Although City are trailing, their pressure and chance creation has still been unlike anything what we'd see from us.

It's crazy to think that through a combination of aging and diva players, and a puppet coach, we aren't anywhere near the fitness level required to be at the top of European football right now. I'm guessing Valverde would rather tie a blindfold than watch this game and learn something.

I think they were interested in van Dijk, but didn't want to pay the price. Should have signed someone like Koulibaly this summer.

Lol at Shitverde saying running and pressing don't mean anything.

Same fucking idiot who got us humiliated at Anfield.

Modern football is about speed, work rate and athleticism. Tactics and organisation too. Motivation too.

Klopp is a master of this football. He also knows which players fit his style.

Liverpool or City would pretty much blow away Barca or Madrid. That was a first half of fast and furious football.

How long will this Liverpool side keep this up for? Surely they will burn out sooner or later?
