I think the difference is, that their creative midget midfielders work really hard, unlike ours, who just physically cannot, barring Vidal; and he's pretty old as well, and wouldn't be able to match the intensity for 90 minutes.

and because you have Sterling and Sané who are damn fast and run like crazy up and down the sides for 90 minutes

He assisted Sané's goal and put Aguero 1v1 with the keeper. Honestly I think people just get mesmerized by Sané's dribbling, because he very rarely produces more than Sterling yet always gets the plaudits. He's Pep's first choice wide player.

Tonight, who has been the better player? Keep in mind that Liverpool is not Huddersfield.

Sterling was terrible tonight but showed good attitude. Sane was class. How Low let him home during WC ?! Fernandinho and Kompany were also brilliant. Deserved win for City Liverpool doesnt look as strong as last season. I think Bayern will kick Liverpool but they will the Premier League.

Pep and Klopp are the 2 best managers in the world by some distance. The football tonight has been wonderful.

Wonderful. And yet full of mistakes from both sides and lacking focus. Both teams are overrated at the top level by some margin when it comes to games like this where titles are decided. It doesn't look like they'll get far in the CL yet again. Liverpool are fixed easier since all they gotta do is take out that clown Lovren and put Gomez in to get better cover and less fuckups. City are still soft with a soft manager. Pure precision won't get them far in Europe.

It was very obvious how Pool was technically inferior. They look shit when pressed hard and often run themselves into corner and looking scared to make line breaking passes. Pretty sure that no one in the CL will press them as hard as Pep. Also Klopp done :valverde: tonight.

OK, so you said a while back that Juventus ain't gonna win it. You say Barca and Madrid are bad. Liverpool and City aren't gonna do much either.

So you basically think that the winner of Tottenham vs Dortmund has the biggest chances then, or PSG. Right? I don't see you praising any team.

Once again it has been proven that you don't have to be 2m tall to be a workhorse or Xavi and Iniesta to be a good small mid . All 3 of 2xSilva and Fernandinho are probably weaker than all our mids bar Vidal and yet they've dominated Pool's mid full of workhorses.

Graeme Souness just said Liverpool is missing someone who cleverly passes the ball like David Silva. This is totally the opposite of what BBZ, Khaled and the rest of tall bulky MF lovers promote in this forum.

Souness: "He’s unique. Such a great watch. Midfield players today get away with murder. They get the ball on the halfway line, they’re passing it square, they get it off the full-back and pass it square. He gets the ball further up the pitch, he gets it in that last third where it’s generally congested. He’s got a radar where he just knows where everybody is on the pitch all the time. Very rarely gives it away and he is the supplier of the cutest and cleverest balls in the tightest area. He’s just a pure genius. You could see him playing for Barcelona at the very best."

Sad to say but Barca is looking more and more for physical workhorse midfielders.

Well, we actually have Barca-type midfielders in Cou and Arthur, we just don't play them.

Yeah, nobody looks convincing, same as last year actually. One of Juve or Atleti are likely IMO as boring as they are. Atleti only ever lost to Real in knockouts, they won't have mental blocks against any other system. Most clutch defenses will almost always see you go far. All teams bar these two have mass liabilities at the back and again, both only really got beat by Real anyway.

City seem like perennial semifinal candidate type team. Walker and Stones are too hotheaded, same as during the WC, nothing changed there, Danilo liability as always, Mendy is barely ever there, too many weak links in one formation. Liverpool a perennial defensive liability at any given stage of competition, only the case of how many mistakes they make and at what stage of the game. Not a lot suggests that they're able to score past, go up and withhold teams with winner mentality. Karius was only one case of Klopp's misplaced trust. Lovren will bite him in the ass again. Alisson and/or Henderson might too actually.

PSG? Dunno. There's nothing that makes me trust or mistrust Tuchel either way, but that PSG side keeps coming back with new vigor every year. Somewhat a mesh of their and Liverpool's issues. Beatable by anyone on a given day, but better than most. Not made my mind up on them though I reckon getting into 1/4s is progress that will fuel them in itself.

Don't rate Barca or Madrid as systemic winners. Sure this Barca side could be for Messi what Cleveland was to LeBron's one-off champ run in a side with defensive problems, just don't think it'll happen. Best defensive lines of both teams either too shit or too unreliable and not likely to withstand a 1 on 1 test of top attackers of which there are lots of. Knockouts are always about matchups. Madrid probably would be the same as last year if Ronaldo stayed since he kept up the focus element for defense. Leadership from the front is gone now. Either somebody likes Isco all of a sudden carries us for multiple legs or we're bust.

Dortmund and Spurs too clumsy at the back for my liking.
