This is career defining stuff from Kepa really. Amusingly, he probably thought in the moment it's not that terrible a thing to do.

when I read it I imagined it to be some cup goalie who barely ever plays anyway and didn't want to take the humiliation of being subbed out before the deciding moment by a coach who doesn't trust him. but reading now that's the most expensive goalkeeper of all time AND he was treated several times beforehand makes it a pretty funny story

the other way round. referees who don't have the balls to stick to what they've seen with their own eyes should be sacked!

I forgot humans had evolved to the point where they can see better in real time vs slow mo cameras. I guess Lahoz was a stud for refusing to use VAR even though it was a clear penalty. It should be my way or the highway with refs.

And people wonder why Sarri isn't doing well recently with Chelsea. Roman should send this fucking idiot Kepa to the reserve team for the rest of the season. Chelsea players have no respect for their managers Conte, Mourinho and now Sarri.

Maybe sarri is just bad with having good relationship with the players? Something like bielsa

According to career penalty saving stats Caballero‘s overall save rate is quite excellent and nearly twice as high as Kepa‘s which is only average.

Was he slated to come on though? Because if he wasn't then you can understand Kepa wanting to stay on. Shouldn't have thrown a strop to that extent and communicate across captains better.

Did not argue about that, just wanted to comment on the one point that Caballero's save rate has actually been quite remarkable.

Yes along with every Chelsea manager for the past 4 seasons? It seems Chelsea are only hiring managers with bad man-management skills. And what I mean by man-management is being cuck to the players just like our beloved Valverde. EV will fit there like a glove.

Kepa clearly disobeyed Sarri, and now they are being diplomatic to say it was a miscommunication. How can you miscommunicate when you are less than 30 meters away? lol

It was just a misunderstanding, not what media are trying to show us. Sarri thought that Kepa had trouble with a cramp and wanted to substitute him and Kepa refused to do that because he was absolutely fine and in no need of replacement. If Sarri knew beforehand that Kepa doesn't need to be replaced, he wouldn't send Willy in tbh.

Translated: The original idea of Sarri was to sub Kepa if there was a penalty shootout because he considered Caballero a specialist and knew the City's players better. Kepa refused and argued a misunderstanding about the injury
