Remember our discussion about the new 'interpretation' of the offside rule after VAR?
This is the outcome

Utterly ridiculous, bending any common sense of the offside law

There's no intepretation involved with offsides. It's a binary decision, he is or he isn't. The argument here is that the angle they showed doesn't resolve any part of the player being off. Which suggests either the refs have something better they're not showing, or they're wrong.

They showed the var picture. Elbow offside.

There is no 'elbow offside' in real football.
No one in the world would have called that before 2018 with full access to all replays and angles available.
The law is being abused

Liverpool looking such an average side when they face a run of poor form. Something they've not had to face in the past 2 years. Good to see they're not getting as lucky anymore.

There were unlucky today. Much better than Everton the whole game.

Maybe tightest offside I’ve ever seen. Need to see closer photos. They should give that to the attackers imo.

It should be binary, of course.
The question is about the criteria when YES and when NO.
Some people falsely thought that the new capabilities available by VAR should mean new directives (like the 'elbow offside').
And it is these new directives that are making football and all of us suffering right now

They weren't much better at all. They were better from about 60 min mark, average for the rest of the game.

There is no question. A player is ahead of the line with a legal part of the body or he isn't.

Elbow offside doesn't exist. Can't score with anything below the armpit.

It's actually more clear if you don't look at the VAR picture. Manes shirt is red so tough to see the line. From that it looks more clear offside.

I agree, the PL made a mess of the rules. It would certainly stand in spain, no? But I honestly cant follow the rules regarding offside anymore ;S They change some details every other season - same for handballs.
