Never heard anyone of general public say he is shit defender. Think quite opposite happens for most people that havent watched him as closely as you or other people here have and just read the match article mentioning another header he scored and not aware he fumbled 4-5 defending. (

Oh lots did, taking same line of argument and even if not explicitly said it doesn't really matter, it is what they mean when they say he takes risks and gets cards. It's the only logical extrapolation of their view.

Bottom line, he's underrated for defending on season long stretches where he was generally same level as most players of his time bar few (Pepe, at times Pique, Chiellini). Not the opposite. Saying he's a top5 defender is not overrating him. Only people not understanding the statement could mean more than 1 thing. Same as saying Alves/Marcelo are top10/20/30 playmakers of all time

I wouldn't be comfortable putting money on City to win the CL. Their lack of x-factor in attack will be what sinks them.

That and the massive holes in defense, or the massive blunder potential of their whole backline + Ederson.

Might have to conclude then he is not overrated in your part of the world if you have heard people say that regularly.
