A proper striker to partner him...someone with good link-up play...and he starts looking shades of his old self.

Let's hope they don't get a midfield diamond even half as good as RM did in those days...or there will be pain.

The problem with Cavani - Ronaldo though, they are old, lets see how many games they can play in a row without injuries/fatigue.

Ronaldo doesnt want to link play, come short or play with back to goal he is almost always thinking that next ball will be a chance on goal and trying to find space.

Never been a sole CF and never will be even if will score goals doesnt give team what need from someone leading the line.

NGL I like Ole just for pulling the trigger on shape of the team. Part of me hopes that it does work for United long term. But unfortunately I do think even though it worked here and it may work in matches to come, he won't stay in the seat to get any credit for it since best teams know how to expose it and they're only just about adept at playing it. It works but not by design and dont think he's got the coaching nous to work out the kinks.

But that is not really something new. They had strikers in front of them for most of their careers. Maybe Messi false 9 period was the exception.

Ronaldo, even though drifted central for a long time, did wide forward-stuff up until a certain point too.

Yeah, was trying to point out Messi had a period when he had strikers as wingers and theoretically he was the most advanced player at false 9.

Both were winger/winger-forwards at the start of their careers.

lmao so salty can't shut up about him these days
Has he got your hopes up too much a few years back or something?

What are you talking about? He wanted to return to Spurs this summer and they've downgraded ever since he was fired.

PSG, or at least their owners will prob pull the trigger on Zidane unless they start playing better as their current performance are very Man Utd-esque and not sustainable.

Leaves a return to Spurs open for him.

Never been a huge fan of him as he's bottled too many games which had even a shred of importance - Pochettino I mean.

Wolfe always quick to defend Pochettino like he's his relative or something. I think he's very overrated, but he's not shit either. He's great for a team that want to punch above their weight, like Tottenham.

What is it about Poch that you dont think would translate to one of the top teams?
