Nah, he wasn't press resistant on an individual level (he isn't fast, can't really protect the ball well enough). He benefitted a lot from Xavi's influence, as the players from the national team of Spain. Once Xavi was gone, his role was never replaced, and more pressure was put on Busi with fewer options to beat it.

I would say it was the opposite actually, by the time he reached his prime it was Xavi who benefited more from prime Busquets.
And yes, he was all time great in press resistant, you can ask all those Manu players who talked specifically about his performances in the finals and how it was a waste trying to press him.

As soon there is space, he scores. Nobody will dare to open up when playing against City now.

It's a matter of interpretating what we see in a different way. We saw much the same things, but for me Xavi is the greatest, smartest, most press resistant midfielder I've seen by a distance.

The biggest force of 2009-12 Barca in terms of press resistance structure were Pep and Xavi. When they were both gone, Busi's form has gone down prematurely, and not much of it was down to him. Simply too much of what was there in 2009-12 simply wasn't in a pretty drastic fashion.

Haaland is Guardiola's most high profile player attacking player since Messi. Lewa under Pep was recognized as world class but wasn't high profile, all eyes on him.

I know people like to talk about how awesome the prem is and how dominating this city team is and how great Liverpool are at finishing 2nd.

But none of those two teams have anything on Barcelona and Madrid from back in the pep days, la Liga was more fun to watch at it's best and teams outside city and Liverpool are even worst to watch.

This city team is hella boring to watch, Liverpool a bit better.

The individual qualify of players seems to be going down, with overall team efficiency making up the difference.

The commentators been waiting since last season to pull the trigger on that one.

This is almost like Pep getting a 2nd chance to prove that he was right about Zlatan in 2009 if not for his thug, punkish attitude.

Haaland is going to score so many goals when opposition has to start opening up when chasing a game. Absolute goal machine.

Yeah, something to keep in mind for all those who base their arguments on percentages. There is always a player who is more special than others. It's still a human sport in the end, not a software running on mathematics.
