Barca - 4
Milan - 3
Bayern - 3
Liverpool - 2
United - 2
Chelsea - 2
Nobody cares about dinosaur era trophies won v Belgian, Eastern European, and French 'league champions'
So you don't include in the 'modern era' the first Barca CL in 1992

CL format allowed big clubs from the dominant leagues (LL, EPL, Serie A, Bundesliga) to compete with each other
European Cup only allowed league champions, which meant a bunch of C rate league champions from Belgium, France, Northern Europe and Eastern Europe etc made it in
In the old format, the likes of RM and Juve also got more cracks at the cup in addition to lower competition

While this is Liverpool's best in 20-30 years and all they can do is make excuses as to why they don't win and tell us how winning doesn't matter, it's ABCDEFG.
And even in our worse period we still managed a league title.
For all the huff and puff about Edwards, how well Liverpool is ran, Klopp,allerson and VVD, you guys have 1 CL more than L.City to show for it .

The 1994 cL that Milan won (included groups, hence the 'new format') but only one team from each country, so what you describe above didn't happen
It's around 1998 or so, when not only the champion from each country was allowed to enter the competition

At the time, before Bosman rule, those teams were far stronger than today. Barca lost to Steaua at home basically in 86.
European Cup was legit, but not as strong competition as modern CL that has to be said. Plus that Madrid won the incipient editions.
Even considering that.. in CL era Madrid has 8 or something and Barca 4.
