The core of the big teams got older. City still depend on likes of Rodri, Silva, Gundogan, De Bruyne în midfield. One is out for the season, one is old and also injured, the other two are just old and visibly slower.

Arsenal is showing mental fatigue I think after failing for 2-3 seasons.

Liverpool look good.

The league is in decline.

Also, the league basically rose to the top due to Pep and Klopp. One is gone, and the other is on the tail end of his EPL career.

Don't think Pep is the type of manager to start over. His 1st cycle is right at the end. I'm talking about key players like Gundogan, Silva, De Bruyne, Walker.

Of course, if nobody can take the mantle off them and Liverpool get lost on the way, City still have some titles in them. Theh are now something like default winners. If nobody can produce, it's City's.

Yep peak of the Pl seems to be over, still best league in the world but the gap became smaller. If Atletico fires Simeone and get a new good coach, ll could be the no.1 soon.

Even an elite Barca is enough. EPL never had more than 2 top class teams at the top. The idea of a top 6 being close in quality in EPL is fake. Their title fight over there has been a 2-team affair for a long time, be it Liverpool vs City, or City vs Arsenal. Or even less, one team running away with it.

I don't think I've seen seasons in EPL where 3 teams have been in the title fight until the end.

What's happened in the EPL is that the top three look way more pragmatic.

Pep is older and with age and CL pursuits is way more calculative than his younger version with Messi.

Slot seems that he will forego his attack to secure results, which is not a good sign so early in his tenure while Arteta seems to play in his shell a bit after the consistent league failures.

We will need to see if Amorim brings a fresh approach and challenge to the league, and how Maresca changes when there is actual pressure on him if he gets Chelsea into a title challenging position.

Basically the league is in a transitionary phase. But at the same time, this is always the point of the season where people question Pep and his decline, then he gets the wheels in motion and steamrolls the league in a month or two.
