I said in August I was surprised people were writing off Liverpool. I think sometimes people think teams aren't good just because they don't buy players, but the thing with Liverpool is they still had a strong squad despite adding no one but Chiesa.

I have never rated this Arsenal team as much as many and expected them to start faltering - they're far too defensive for a start and don't have enough great goalscorers. Man City I expected to maintain their level, though Rodri's injury is likely the main reason they haven't. However, I think their problems go deeper than just one player being out (even if I think that player is the world's best).

The main reasons I rated Liverpool's chances were Slot (I think he's a cool and calm customer and a great tactical manager), Van Dijk looking good these days despite ageing, midfield looking solid enough, and Salah being their wildcard still. I have always like Diaz but I acknowledge his good goalscoring form might tail off. I like Jota too. I just feel Liverpool have goals in their team (more goals than Arsenal) and have tightened up at the back too, which bodes well for them.

However, MUST add the caveat that the league season isn't even 1/3 of the way through and so much can change.

City can still come back but yeah normally Liverpool should win this

Poor Arsenal

City are going to test Zubimendi resolve and make a bid in winter. He could change alot of their dynamics and give some Rodri relief.

Thing with Slot is that he is winning solid, but it is a bit calculative. What happens when the games get tight? Have to see how he responds to the pressure. We can see how that same pressure cracked Arteta for example.

Not convinced yet that Liverpool can go all the way.

Thin squad and haven't played the toughest games of the season yet.

Arsenal still a tad higher on my book. They had a bad start, but played the most difficult (and away) games so far

3rd-9th all separated by a point and 11th only three points from third. Could be another surprise package in the top 4 come May.

Our season will be over by January except a nice CL knockout tie to look forward to.

Yeah it can still go to any of the expected three teams. I don't think there will be a surprise winner because all the teams are dropping points.

What we can say is that this may very well be low points total to win it, relative to most recent years. Something like 83-86 might be enough.
