Holy hell Nottingham is that team people said Chelsea is! How they snuck their way up the league like that?! Stunning sights

Not really...

Massiverly overperforming their underlying metrics.
Will soon hit a slump and will find their real position at the end of the season somewhere between 9th and 14th

I fell asleep and missed Liverpool game. But Everton, Newcastle and Wolves all played well today.

Everton are really solid defensively under Dyche, and now have draws in consecutive games against Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City. Of course the trade off is they have one of the worst attacks in the league so really have to be strong at the back.

I predicted Newcastle to beat Villa 2-1, it finishes 3-0. To be fair, Villa are a good team, but Newcastle have sorted out their form recently and guys like Isak and Murphy have really come on to a game in their attack. I really do like Isak - very talented, well-rounded player who contributes much more than just goals.

Wolves against United was an interesting game. Tbh the red card did ruin the game. However, I felt Wolves were the better team before then. Not necessarily innumber of chances created, though they did create a few. But it was their patterns of play - their turns and link-up play in tight spaces were excellent and really they played out from the back well - there were a few instances of balls flashed across the box that just weren't directed well enough - they don't show up in xG because the striker didn't connect, but they were great openings and with more care over the cross they could have had some tap ins.

Cunha is a superb player and I put him in my fantasy challenge team as goals from outside the box were worth 7 bonus points this gameweek. I didn't expect it to be from another corner though, lol. His dribbling, strength, vision and passing were all superb. I have liked him since he joined Wolves. Can he make the step up to a bigger club in future? Who knows, but he is still quite young.

United? Well, what can you say about them. Everyone knows they are my most hated club. But I think recent years have proved I am not underrating them out of bias. They really are poor with a lot of mediocre players (in my opinion) and they need a complete overhaul as a club and team, which likely will never come. As for Amorim, I do think he's a competent guy, and I like in one way that he's trying to stick to his philosophy, as I said. However, I don't necessarily agree with his actual philosophy - the way he plays three at the back seems quite defensive (though could be as he doesn't having flying wing-backs in the squad) and I think it's causing them to fail. Also, he keeps talking about how they will struggle for a long time - that seems to be like setting the expectations low. Yes they have poor players but other coaches come in and can get a tune out of their players quickly - the new Wolves coach has done it in the first two games. Might be just a bounce but there's plenty examples of managers not needing an age to improve things.

The entire thing about them though is that I do not see any way out of their problems. Even if they improve, I would say the very best they can hope for in future is top four. I would be amazed if they ever compete for the PL or CL under Amorim, unless the competition in these leagues/tournaments nosedives. It's nothing against him as a coach, it's more that they'd need to sell a lot of guys on very high wages, and also buy so many new, better players, which is just not possible with their financial issues and PSR.

United have Newcastle next on Monday night. The Toon will show up at Old Trafford full of confidence. Newcastle can certainly win it. As @delancey says, United have Liverpool away after than then Arsenal away (in the FA Cup). After that their schedule gets easier 'on paper' - but let's face it, no game is easy for them. They cannot score.

Still going well in PL predictor, almost halfway through the season. Into top 100 of 27,000 odd in UK, and in top 200 odd of 73000 in the world. In about the top 0.2-0.3 per cent for both therefore. Like I say plenty of it is luck but some is good predicting too. The good news is that I am tied on points with plenty higher up in the world league (they are only above me on tiebreakers) and even as high as 144 only has 174 points (I have 173) so there's plenty scope to move even further up with more good gameweeks. The world leader has 188 I think, which is probably too much to catch (15 points), but you never know if some of the guys at the top start struggling.

This week went well. I got the first three predictions incorrect, but that is fine given they were big upsets with low percentage correctly predicted anyway. The other five games - three of them were a fairly even spread, and then being part of the 21 percent who correctly predicted Wolves is a good boost. Liverpool obviously didn't do much for me as they were backed by 99 percent - if anything I might have dropped slightly with that as I didn't even get a close (1.5 points as compared to 1 for a result).

But overall, very pleased with how it is going. My high rate of exacts have started to dry up but that was never subtainable anyway.

Salah is shaping up to be an early favorite for Ballon d'Or. If Liverpool keeps this form up he'll win it for sure. Nobody comes close to him in EPL. It will depend on what Vinicius can come up with in the Champions League.
