They are still a force and dark horse to win the CL this season
Arsenal have zero European pedigree and will bottle it at some point. You said they would eliminate Real Madrid. Look at RM's history in this competition and look at Arsenal's and say that again.

Arsenal are overrated, we saw it again yesterday when they were toothless against a poor Man United team. You think football is played on a spreadsheet and judge everything by 'metrics'. You don't understand there's a lot of intangibles that cannot be measured quantitatively in football. You think players are robots whose touch doesn't suffer when tired.

There's a reason @KingLeo10 disparagingly calls you OptaBirdy. You are a very decent young man but it is true.

Bear in mind I said Bayern would eliminate them last season when everyone and their dog (including you) was saying they'd easily put Bayern out. Because, muh, metrics.

Let's set some inaccuracies straight:

1) I never said Arsenal would easily beat Bayern last season. I thought they were slightly ahead but something like 55%-45%, simply because Bayern had Thomas Tuchel, one of the best knock-out coaches in the world.
Look it up

2) Arsenal were not 'toothless' against a 'poor UTD' the other day. They totally dominated them from min.1'
They lacked right moves in the final 3rd. Might have to do with the fact they have their best attackers (Saka, Jesus, Martinelli, Haverz) out for a long time and some for the season, but that's another discussion.

3) 'Arsenal are bottlers' is a stupid non-argument parroted by people who don't do football talk, they just reproduce slogans in their arrogant ignorance. You can do better than that, I am sure. You are not King Leo level of poster

4) If you want to talk football, this is my football take on Arsenal:

a) They are one of the three teams that do NOT suit Madrid tactically wise: Arsenal, Slot's Pool, and Inter are the only teams Madrid would 'hate' to face. Super-organized and sturdy defensively. They won't break easily, can catch them themselves on the break and punish them.

b) Madrid loves to face teams like Bayern or PSG that would attack wonderfully and leave spaces at the back, so they can shithouse and voodoo their way into robbed victories, like they have done so many times in the past.

c) Of course, I did not include Barca, because we have their number whenever we play against them under Flick.

d) Talking of Arsenal now, they have NOTHING to play for in the league, and in such situations, total focus on one goal, especially a goal that involves few games can work. We have seen it again. First proof of that was the 7 goals against PSV. Not some super opponent, but won against Pool in the group stage, drew at PSG, kicked out Juve. Arsenal have channeled all their energy and hunger into CL now

e) Tactically, they can be reciprocally neutralized against Inter or Pool because of their similar approach. Against all else, they have the edge IMO.

f) If there is something that currently works against them, it's what I talked above about their injury crisis in their attacking line. Saka and Martinelli are gradually back though, and they will be ready against Madrid

Thanks for making these points. I don't fully agree - there's portions that make sense and others I am opposed to, but I respect you laid out your thoughts well.

If I am sometimes hard on you it is only because I believe you are an intelligent and decent guy, but at times you can be too dogmatic with metrics and other things like that. I don't feel you take into account 'the feelings' of football sometimes.

You're right that 'bottling' was unserious and not becoming of me. A better way to put it is that Real Madrid have infinitely more pedigree and experience than Arsenal in the CL. I actually think Arsenal play better football in general but you know what those cunts are like - they find a way almost every time. Metrics say Arsenal would win, and it is logical, but football can be illogical, especially where Real Madrid and Man United are concerned.

Overall, though, I apologise for being hard on you several times in recent months. It's just because you are a smart, articulate guy, but sometimes I feel you lean too heavily on the stats side of things and don't take into account the more qualitative aspects.

Peace.
