Barcelona to pay €300 fine for breaking transfer rules
Barcelona Football Club has been requested to pay a fine of €300 for breaking the rules in their €120m Antoine Griezmann transfer deal. The penalty for their action was decided on the 26th of September 2019, by the Spanish Football Association disciplinary committee. The case was charged against Barcelona by Atletico Madrid for the unlawful pursuit of the French forward, Antoine Griezmann before the opening of the transfer window last season. Atletico Madrid claimed that Barcelona completed the signing deal without their approval.
Although, the judge working on the case on behalf of the Spanish Federation mentioned that it either the club pays the fine or have its stadium closed but the Federation said that Camp Nou will not be closed. Due to the financial status of Barcelona, Marca reported that Landaberea said that the €300 fine against Barcelona was insufficient. However, since Barcelona started the negotiation on the footballer when his buy out clause was around €200m, Atletico Madrid state that the club should pay them an additional €80m.
