We need the money, but with this deal we're paid like a cheap hooker, while we should get paid like a high-class Hollywood escort.
It's all about the pimp

At the moment when they signed the deal it was the best sponsor deal ever in football, no? Maybe there's a clause in the contract that allows renegotiation when other clubs (like arsenal and manutd apparently) get a better deal, dunno.
Cry about it all you want but we have to take advantage of this while we can, Barca aren't always going to be so marketable
It was already clear when they signed this contract that other clubs would get much better deals within a few years. United are almost getting double from 2014 or 2015 on. Wait for Reals next deal. Will make ours look really, really bad.
But that's just the point. We sold our shirt for less than it's worth. If you sell it, sell it for the right price. But we're not getting (much) more than any other major club in Europe and by next season we'll get less than some of them.
Like I said: We're a high-class Hollywood A-list escort, getting paid like a cheap, STD-ridden street hooker.
This was the first time they sell the shirt, when the Barcelona-Qatar Foundation deal was first signed it was a very good deal for both parties.
I'm sure that after the current deal , now that the floodgates, we will have incredible deals.

we should keep our philosophy and class rather then sell out, I would rather not win a title for a few years then sell out and be like Madrid
True, but I don't see why one thing can't be combined with the other. I never really understood why a shirt sponsor would mean that Barça are not "more than a club" anymore. The "more than a club" saying comes from a time long before shirt sponsoring was introduced to football and has nothing to do with that. The values and philosophy of the club are not sold out just because we do what we did in a different way already for a long time: sponsoring. Nike, Estrella Damm, Caixa Catalunya, Turkish Airlines, Audi, Seiko... The list goes on and on.
If anything, we sold out because we sold the front of our shirt for much less than it's worth.
it is just a principle that I had hoped I would never see go away. We did not have a jersey sponsor ever..and that was something to be really proud of... now we are just like everyone else... it is all about money... sad very sad... like I said I refuse to buy or wear a Barça jersey that has the Qatar crap on it..
and another thing, our jersey is plastered with the name of a country where it is illegal to be gay?? really??? Shameful stuff really
qatar airways is a quality airline, arguably the best in the world. just like barca is arguably the best football team in the world. quality sponsor for a quality club. glad that the club is putting quality of sponsor above money.
