For a start they are undemocratic (literally with a religious king) and gets cities build by slaves (other countries have shit minimum-wages, but we are talking about forced labour here). Second, they don't exclusively get all the hate. Over-the-top commercialism in MLS and the US gets criticized as well, the City-group, rich russians buying whole clubs and so on.
Qatar just embodies a lot of what is wrong with modern football. The next worldcup is going to be there although the have 0 football history. 1200 slave-workers have died so far building stadiums in the desert (estimated to be 4000 in 2022). They hosted the last handball-world cup as well and bought a whole team by nationalizing players from other countries for huuuge money and paid poor workers to come and cheer. That kind of thing deserves a fair amount of hate and criticism, tbh.
Do you realy think there is a real democracy in the west ? yes you can vote for whoever you want but the rich and corporations still make and control everything and the slavery is even worst in the west just we do not see it as slavery , the morden slavery in the west is by controlling people lifes with debts of all sort so you work all your life to pay your debts and make the rich even richer .

I always thought Qatar FC was a tribute to Qatar.
They managed to inject oil money into a pile of shit team embedded in a bigger pile of shit league and managed to attract to decent players and marketability in the process.
Still a trashcan of a club and shit league...but money can only do so much.

Pales in comparison to the U.S. war machine, mass incarceration, apartheid, Western colonization and occupation, the illegal invasion of Iraq, agent orange, the 2011 military intervention in Libya, both world wars, etc. And I could go on, and on, and on.
In reality, most people are hypocrites that selectively choose what to care about. In terms of westerners specifically, their incessant need to paint gulf nations in a negative light is mostly fueled by racism, bigotry, and jealousy. They don't really care about exploitation of labor in Qatar anymore than they care about the exploitative labor that defines the capitalist systems of their own country's, but it lends them a disguise, and so they use it.

Yeah, More than half of their fans are just plastic. Acting like twats all the time, keep spamming their Ligue 1 propoganda everywhere. I can understand. Most of them support them just because of their glamour, but they won't accept it.
