One of the reasons why I don't want a new manager where the Barca job is their lifetime dream. I want somebody who's stature in world football is very solid and very influential without Barcelona. When your dream is coming true, humans tend to idealize that dream and in the process end up stepping on the very principles they believe in. Normally, in a healthy environment that wouldn't be an issue. But a troublesome environment filled with problematic veterans can always find ways to exploit that weakness.

No board will come in and chose a manager to replace the old guard.

They would be too scared to campaign on that and have likes of Pique/Messi etc go against them.

The Presidential elections every few leads to situations like this as the current board wont make the changes that should have been started a couple years back as will want to see it out without being the ones that broke completed the break up of best team ever.

The arrogance is Pique not realising he was a fairly big part in the defeat and that he is part of an old clique that has too much power.

His behaviour is awful and no top coach worth their salt would put up with him.

Is he arrognat in general? yes, but I don't think that statement was arrogant. It was a fair self criticism IMO.

I think the problem is more or less about the board who prefers to continue with the veterans who are more marketable than trying to be more proactive.

RM was weaker last season by nearly all metrics. We destroyed them effortlessly in 3 of the 4 Clasicos.

ZZ at the helm instead of Lope or Solari alone is a huge boost.

RM played well and even better than us in Bernabue last season
IIRC he said RM in first half was the weakest side we have faced. So it is a fair subjective statement even if it isn't entirely true.

I side with the managers over pampered veterans who don't want to work hard anymore. 100%. If Valverde had the guts to do anything about the situation and show his discontent I would've backed him 100%. Sadly, he decided to accept these things and act like everything was fine.

Sarabia only exercised his job. It's his right to express anger when the players fail to meet standards. Who doesn't like criticism when they play like shit should, again, fuck off. I'm tired of seeing Amigos running this club into the ground. Everybody has to treat them as if they're some sort of gods of football who can't be touched.

If only to put these players back in their place I want a hardman in charge. A manager like Simeone would take chunks out of them. I don't even care about style for now. Just bring someone who can bring back discipline and professionalism, and clear out the elements who refuse to align.

Valverde has more experience and achieved a lot more with smaller teams that didn't transition very well to Barca and basically became a puppet for the board and the senior players.

Seiten is basically no different, but one was defended by a certain group of players even after the disastrous results in the CL and how poor the team really was most of the time while the other took over mid-season while having a thin squad and rumors are saying the players think a team like Barca is to much for him?

Seiten and Valverde are the same exact coach you can find in the league, basically Midtable-EL level doesn't matter how much experience Valverde has over Seiten. I have to assume Seiten is doing shit that is making the locker room egos feel uncomfortable.

At this point I'm so sick of the old core group of Vets that I'd rather back the manager even if he's not good enough for a team like ours over those guys.

There seem to be a lot of differences between the two.
Valverde has reached the state when he was simply unable to do any changes. He became static and static of the worst type.

Setien is much more brave, with more fantasy, just by judging his few games and one simply cannot judge the coach and his work after merely one and a half months.
Everyone knows and notices the physical state of the players, most probably Setien works on that but stamina and other physical features may improve in a few months of time, never in one or two.

Setien could be a good solution for Barca, could be a wrong one too, but we don't yet know that. Takes time.

Judging coaches by merely their previous results is misguiding. There are good coaches without good players, or any other prominent combinations of the possibilities.
"Star" coaches also fail very often and unknown ones can also make wonders. It just depends upon the players, the team, circumstances.

Well it's pretty obvious that Valverde want the job, so he works with the players and followed what the board want. He almost had it, if Alba and Umtiti didn't fcked up in one important game after having a great season.Its a possible people here will be talking about back2back Treble and how great his system. If people here want changes, sell Messi to Juventus so football fans can watch past their prime GOATs palyed together while Barca enjoying their Europa League campaign

The game against Eibar was already done and dusted. There's simply no need to run Messi to the ground when there is two very important games coming up, and there's absolutely no need to risk any injury for him as well. Seitien just comes across as a guy who tries too hard to show he appreciate big names but not knowing their bodies are no longer what they used to be. He has no experience managing a big club just like Ernie and I'm not gonna sit here and act everything is rosy like you said. I have backed Setien at the start but now it becomes more evident that he is completely out of depth. He is tactically inept and doesnt try to incorporate players for their right positions, something ernie used to be criticised for many times.

He could have played Braithwaite because he fits tactically and could provide alot of going forward. It's not about trying to shove big names all the time, something like what Pep did by starting Jesus instead of Aguero because he needs the aerial presence against Madrid deep lying block, when everyone initially thought Pep was crazy for starting him. Not to mention when Braithwaite came on he was totally out of position. I'm not gonna keep telling players to run like headless chickens all game when they are pretty much exhausted from Napoli AND that the tactical setup was a disaster with little to zero pace from forwards and 4 freaking midfielders. This are the things Ernie would have done, the only difference Setien is obsessed with possession while the other is defence, that's literally it.
