Rafinha was always more versatile as he could play everywhere in attack and midfield and overall had a bit of everything but better than Thiago? No way. It's not only because of the injuries that Thiago is easily like a top 10 CM these days, would be quite a coincidence if Rafinha would be even better without his health problems.

What's your midfield 3? The forum favourite of De Jong Artur and Busquets. 3 midfielders who never go in the box, never score goals and get 1 assist a month, between them. Then people moan EV is scared and too defensive, when everyone wants a midfield 3 of 3 DMs

Dr Jong and Arthur should definitely play majority of games. If Coutinho won't be sold I would definitely try him in midfield and I don't care that Valverde has no balls for that. De Jong - Artur - Coutinho should be more than OK against majority La Liga teams. If we need to be more solid we can always play Busi-De Jong-Arthur or De Jong-Arthur-Vidal/Rakitic (probably one of them will be sold). To sum it up it's much better to give a chance to Puig or Alena than to waste another year on Rafinha who will be gone for free next summer.

I understand that you want to play with CAM but with Grizmann, Messi, Dembele and Suarez here that's probably not possible against stronger teams since it would end up beeing more of a 4-2-4 than 4-3-3. Messi plays more in the middle than on the wing so basically a true AM would operate in the same area as he does and that wouldn't bring anything good to the team.

I just hope Rafinha gets sold finally. Not because he is a bad player, but because the manager will rely on him too much in times that he can and should give minutes to the likes of Dembele.

Case in point, the first Clasico at home where he went for Rafinha at AMR and left Dembele and Malcom on the bench

Rafinha isn't going to make it with Barca. Lack of foot speed is obvious. Injuries ruined him for top level. His level is a bit lower from Barca, at least as a starter.

No club will touch him for two reasons:
1) his injuries.
2) the fee Barca is asking for him.

Never rated him, he’ll probably run his contract down and leave on a free transfer.

I am with EGT. I thin Rafinha is slightly underrated. When healthy he is a cut above Alena/Denis/Gomes etc. Not great but better than them in talent/understanding his role.

But unless Coutinho/Vidal/Rakitic are sold he is not going to play winger or central attacking mid over them. Can also make the case Sergi--who largely stays healthy, can do emergency right wing just as good too. Probably a wash too with Alena who is younger--don't think either are Barca quality but don't completely suck and know roles better and better mentality than same Gomes.

So yeah probably best for him to move on but I like his game more than most here do. I do say keep him if we can only get 5 + 5 in variables--he is better than that and that just subsidizes another club who by chance if he stays healthy gets a much better than 10 mil player.
