Rank these 5 wingers/wide forwards overall:

Salah, Hazard, Robben, Bale, Ribery.

Inspired by the Salah vs Bale Redcafe thread.

Lol much too hard, all brilliant players. My list today would be different from tomorrow.

Good idea for a thread, though.

Nobody beats Salah's longevity that's for sure. Constantly scoring on average 24 goals in PL over 7-8 seasons is very impressive. Problem with most of the others is that injuries were big factors.

Without looking I don't think any of these players beat Salah's best seasons G/A wise. Still in a one off final I probably would not choose Salah. But it's hard and dependent on what you want from the player.

Guys I know it's hard. That's why I made this thread.

Bottled it! That's not the opinionated Mara37 we know. L.
Not so much bottling as very indecisive - apparently it's a big part of my personality type

I will give an opinion then:

Salah, Robben (I have a personal liking for Arjen as a player), Ribery, Hazard, Bale.

I would expand more but I am honestly trying to post less and gonna go offline in ten minutes to watch Alita: Battle Angel.

Make one post justifying your rankings. Simple.

1) Robben - He was hit or miss on the big stage, but he got to the big stage quite often. And when he was on song, he was absolutely devastating.

2) Salah - Very high level for 7-8 years. Probably the most longevity of the lot at the highest level

3) Bale - Big game player and amazing peak, shit longevity

4) Hazard/Ribery - Hard to distinguish these two. Hazard is the 3nd best dribbler in the world after Messi and Neymar from the last 15 years. Ribery was also excellent but he was never the main man which Hazard was at Chelsea for some of their titles. Maybe slight edge to Hazard.

Ok

Well, I should acknowledge like The Stig, they're all on a similar level and amongst the best players of their generation, so being bottom is no insult.

Salah - love how he's like a mini Messi, with his passing and dribbling (even though a poor man's Messi). He also shows a lot of consistency week in week out and he's very entertaining to me

Robben - could never stop his cutting inside trick. I think he was an amazing player who could rip any teams to shreds with his dribbling and wand of a left foot. The goal at Old Trafford for Bayern in 2010 CL showcased his extremely good technique

Ribery and Hazard- very close between the two, but I give it to Franck simply as I feel he reached a higher level in Europe in the treble season. The guy is a cunt, true, but he was an incredibly good playmaking winger. Both were extremely good technically, great close control, dribbling, high football IQ, and amongst my favourite players to watch.

Bale - respect that he could be higher for some people, but I am rating them more subjectively in my post. Bale is my least favourite to watch of the five, fits into the way I like football less. However, this does not take away from the fact that he was a great player with extreme pace, could dribble in large spaces, great shooting ability, wand of a left foot, and the best athlete of the 5 (and best athlete in this generation of football with Ronaldo). The guy also scored some great goals in big games. But I feel he was more of a moments player than Hazard and Ribery, who are less 'clutch' to the naked eye but actually change games through their cuteness and brilliance throughout a game, simply doing 'great footballer' things.

Again, I don't want it to seem like I think any of them are poor. They're all brilliant footballers.

Ragdolled prime Ramos and Pique for fun

One of the iconic CL KO goals
What a wonderful player he was, and that second goal is the one I referenced, at OT. I find he is forgotten a bit these days when he discuss the best wingers/wing forwards of the last two decades. Everyone talks about Bale, Salah, Ribery, Hazard, Neymar, Mbappe more.

Respect your opinion as always mate. I must say though I am surprised to see Salah bottom on talent - I thought he'd at least be above Bale. Although obviously even the lowest is a 9 at least in talent.

Also, clutch, x factor and on their day all seem similar to me.

Talk soon mate.
