Spanish media report on FC Barcelona's interest in Raphael Guerreiro. The 25-year-old is to be built up as a long-term replacement for Jordi Alba, and the Catalans also like Guerreiro's versatility in other positions.
Guerreiro has got his injury problems under control and has been an indispensable part of the team ever since. His playing intelligence is outstanding, paired with his technical skills Guerreiro can always create dangerous actions with the ball. Lucien Favre doesn't see him as a left-back - due to the lack of robustness in one-on-one. With his technical brawn, the Portuguese compensates for the lack of one or two percent speed.
Guerreiro will, however, consider whether he can get the shares he wants and needs in Barcelona. His performances in the past season qualify him for an enagament with the Catalans. But the season has also shown that Guerreiro needs rhythm and trust. The family situation speaks against Barcelona. His wife and his two children should rather favour a return to France.
For a long time, Paris St. Germain was regarded as the probable destination of the Portugsiesen, who grew up in France. Thomas Tuchel has a soft spot for the left foot, which came to Dortmund as a left-back discovery at the 2016 European Championships, but which he then converted into an offensive foreign player. Guerreiro also got on very well with Tuchel. He rejected offers to negotiate an extension of his contract, which expired in 2020. In order to have him drawn in a year that is not free of charge, Borussia must react this summer and sell him.
