In the first game from the supercup RM clearly outplayed Barcelona, but then we were more efficient then in any other game from this season. The last Clasico could have gotten either way, but so could have Ibra's first Clasico, for example.

In that game they only outplayed us for the first 30 minutes and only because they ran like mad men, then they naturally ran out of gas and things got back to place with Barca controlling the tempo of the game. Not sure if you can call that outplaying us, it only lasted 30 minutes

So Arbeloa thinks the FCB players are finished and overrated? So maybe La Roja would do better w/o any FCB players at all, I think he should discuss this topic with VdB

Arbeloa should thank the heavens 3 times a day that players like Xavi (despite Achilles problem), Iniesta, P&P did give their all so that even his sorry ass could get a WC medal

But of course they are finished, mediocre and overrated. Thanks again for your opinion, you classless twat

Most goals in a single la liga season.

1. Real Madrid 2011/12 115 36
2 FC Barcelona 2011/12 108 36
3 Real Madrid 1989/90 107 38
4 FC Barcelona 2008/09 105 38
5 FC Barcelona 1996/97 102 42
Real Madrid 2009/10 102 38
Real Madrid 2010/11 102 38

This really underpins how much of a two horse race the league has become, and it really undermines the value of the league title in comparison with those of England and Germany. I conclude that over the last few years in Spain only CL success should really be considered a 'Great' achievement ;)

Gio and Raed 've always been gracious in defeat, (and i'd like to reciprocate)....This one's for you boys(also to the other low-key madridistas on here):

Congratulations. Well deserved! :beer2:

:beer2:

congratz.

Congratulations Madridistas, enjoy it guys.

congrats to the Madridistas on this forum ... look forward to the epic battle that will ensue next season (in LaLiga and the CL ... ok and the Copa too) :)

Congrats to all the cool Madridistas, even though i can't stand Mourinho and i don't care for their celebrations. Its no surprise they'll celebrate as if the'ye won the treble. They'll probably drive around the City, open top bus and all. Good for them. Hope they don't drop the trophy this time around. :D

Thank you all :beers: for your sportsmanship ... good luck next season

Could someone shed me some light on the property Madrid sold around 1999, someone told me it was the most expensive piece of ground in Spain. It was in some architect magazine and it is said that Franco himself (who else) gifted this piece of ground.

The following is taken from the Madrid wiki page: "It was under Florentino Pérez's first presidency (2000–2006) that Real Madrid started its ambition of becoming the world's richest professional football club.[89] The club ceded part of its training grounds to the city of Madrid in 2001, and sold the rest to four corporations: Repsol YPF, Mutua Automovilística de Madrid, Sacyr Vallehermoso and OHL. The sale eradicated the club's debts, paving the way for it to buy the world's most expensive players such as Zinédine Zidane, Luís Figo, Ronaldo and David Beckham. The city had previously rezoned the training grounds for development, a move which in turn increased their value, and then bought the site.[29] The EU-commission started an investigation into whether the city overpaid for the property, to be considered a form of state subsidy.[90]"

Now, if the part about Franco is true and the property is not obtained by legal (democratic) means, and since Franco was a fascist ruler, that would mean the ''stars'' like Ronaldo, Zidane and Beckham were obtained with money obtained from a fascist gift :pep:

someone enlighten me

We've been through this gazillion times already but you have your excuse cause you are new..
The land sold was our training ground next to the Bernabeu , quite an amazing piece of land.. what we did is apply for rezoning (same way u did with Camp Nou and Franco approved it back in the days ) by that it means the land usage is not a training ground zone but can be built open.. City of Madrid approved and the land was put to sale..one of Perez companies actually made the highest bid and the money paid by Perez was given to Madrid..the part given to the city is insignificant and like a fee
the City cannot pay from their own pocket..
some bitter people like the ones who are whining here all season (I.e Barca management ) reported to UEFA & the EU and the investigation came back that the process was 100% legal and no foul play

have to look back and say it was an amazing piece of business if he waited few years we could have been like Valencia or Atletico

The numbers will only go up in the next few years - the gulf between the top 2 and the bottom 18 is only increasing.

I don't think it will but let's see where is goes.. take into consideration this 115 in just 36 games... We have the chance of making it an impossible record in the next 2 games

Everyone though Cristiano's goal record last season was impossible. One year later, it has been obliterated by two different players with two matches still left to go.

Every year, Barcelona and Real Madrid get 150 million from the TV deal, other teams get 15 million or less. The gap will only increase, more and more goals will be scored by the top 2. Don't be surprised if both Barcelona and Real Madrid beat Real Madrid's goalscoring record of this season next year.

Won't be only us.. you as well .. u cannot keep up the same level for that long.. it's not like there will be a new winner but the level and the points will drop in la liga..
it's the Euro year as well and the players will start to get busy with the WC qualifiers
