Well, it probably isn't a losing war.

Few weeks ago Everton did the same. Fellaini had some irrelevant WCQ game and he said: "i'm off, going to fix me wisdom teeth now so I can play with my club on saturday." He was allowed to but the Belgian association said: "very cool but we have this FIFA rule, if you go now, you won't play on saturday." Everton contested it and the FIFA bailed Fellaini & Everton out so he could play.

Depends on how bad you want to play him. It's Racing, play Marcelo and just test Ronaldo in Zurich.

Oh i didn't know that..
I think CR needs some playing time before the Classico but i don't see him being match fit enough after a long lay off to make a difference in the Classico

Not questioning if he will be there or not Peter, just questioning the form and shape he will be in

Right, well I didn't make it clear enough, but I have a feeling that he will be there in good form. If Barca managed to do it with Henry AND Iniesta for the CL final, surely Madrid have got something brewing. I think that Ronaldo will begin his preparations well in advance and will be 100% fit, the clasico will also fire him up.

I just read an article today that said that Raul is thinking about hanging up the boots this summer when he is 33, because he thinks he is not in the plans for Pellegrini any more.

"El Mundo Deportivo report that Los Merengues' captain does not want to move abroad to look for regular football and would prefer to bow out at the top.

Already this season he has been on the bench for four league games and two in Europe and that has given him a clear message that there are now players above him in the pecking order.

After a meeting with president Florentino Perez, it was made clear that Iker Casillas is in line to become the captain of the club, which has further dented Raul's desire to dream of many more season at the top.

The Spanish giants' all-time record goalscorer will be 33 at the end of the current campaign and knows that should he decide to quit, then a job within the club is his.

Perez is not persuading Raul to hang up his boots but it was no secret that in his last reign he would have off-loaded the skipper before seeing his form revitalized.

This time around, coach Manuel Pellegrini does not need to include Raul as often given the wealth of talent he has in each area and that appears to be the key in persuading El Siete to consider his future."

I've just read an article about Real Madrid merchandising. It was said that the sales of Ronaldo t-shirts are slowing down and it's not as it was expected...
Does it surprise anyone? I mean what kind of an idiot would buy the same Ronaldo t-shirt with the same number 9 on it that he had bought few years ago at the real fat Ronaldo time?

Sales overall are 25% down compared to the last galactico era, this is according to Bloomberg so the story comes from a reputable source. The idea that they were going to recoup the money spent was always pie in the sky tosh given that none of the newbies has the same marketability as David Beckham did.

They're also on course to give themselves a tough CL 2nd round draw too and have their usual instant elimination thus incurring a further financial setback.
