No Raul didn't ask for anything tbh as he contract is not canceled or terminated in fact all the club officials (including Mourinho ) said when it comes to Raul staying or leaving will solely be his decision given the role of Raul Gonzalez in the history of Real Madrid , he will not be shown the door or get this contract terminated .
However the club announced they will give him a full year salary as a giveaway gift for his service through out life for Real Madrid

According to various reports our Captain and long serving player Raul has signed for Schalke to partner his team mate Metzelder once again but this time on the pitch.

Raul will play the next 2 years over there and i believe many Madridista will be supporting Schalke for him

you're right, although I reckon teams in spain would retire certain numbers if they could.

lfp rules block it, though, which is a good thing. I mean retiring numbers very rarely is a great honour but once you open the floodgates it can get a little retarded. look at the celtics and yankees over in america. half their numbers are retired!

also considering ronaldo wears 7 for portugal I can't see him not taking 7 for reial. higuain will take the 9 since, y'know, he is a 9.
