no1 is perfect.. and there is no denying that casillas is the best however, your right in he has shown a few flaws in recent times that were didnt seem to be there before..

its kinda like when Messi has a bad match.. its weird to see bc he is the best, but its bound to happen now and then

It's not the same thing...for Casillas it's not that he has bad games now and then, but he's too incomplete to be considered the best. He has the best reflexes and makes amazing super saves but he's not commanding enough, not very good at organizing the defense, not very good at intercepting crosses and makes bad decisions too often. People rave about him because of the super saves and I admit he's best at that but overall he's too incomplete.

I prefer Julio Cesar 2 Iker Casillas doesn't mean he's not world class though..............................in the end you have to acknowledge the fact that Iker is human and is entitled to make a few mistakes no goal keeper is perfect he's just as close to perfect as is humaly possible in goal keeping terms.

I will admit that last season valdez was prolly equal to casillas

Valdes makes mistakes too but you could argue he is practically as good as Iker and may be better one day.

Again, I'm not referring to just the occasional mistakes, I'm talking about the constant bad decisions which lead to goals, and his lack of ability to be commanding enough for someone of such reputation...he's the best in the world at making reflex saves but that shouldn't hide the fact that he has big flaws, flaws that he shouldn't have in order to truly be the best keeper in the world.

Iker is not complete as a keeper he has his flaws like all keepers but he has several good points

1- very consistent.. a bad week for Iker is probably a normal day in the office for other keepers u mention including Valdes
2- has little or no defense , put Julio Cesar or VV or Reina in Real and lets see the divine comedy ..
3- he turns it on when his team need him the most , we saw the PK save and rebound vs Munich , the PK save in the WC , the two one on ones from Robben ..
4- his reflexes are quicker and better then Pepe ,VV,Cesar combined

he is weak in crosses but that's kinda normal since Iker is goal line keeper he rarely gets out of his line that's why you barely see him caught in the land of confusion , he has tendencies to concede from great shots from FK due to his height .
i wouldn't say he doesn't commend his defense at all.. just because he doesn't shout ala Vickey doesn't mean he doesn't commend the defense .. it's just our defense is crap
after all he is the man who captained his side to a Euro and a WC and his performance was very notable in both occasions

Well because of our style our goalkeepers have to be good with the ball at their feet, and better at passing. Yea I would say Valdes is better then Casillas in that department. Valdes is also quicker reacting to loose balls running up and clearing them, but that's also something he's required to be better at because of our style since we always have our defensive line high up and teams always try to sneak through balls. Last season Valdes was just as good if not better then Casillas. Iker didn't have the best season too, and we saw as he started to lose his "best goalkeeper in the world title" to Julio Cesar but if he keeps up performances like the WC and recently he could get it back.

Something I notice with him too is if he realizes he's slipping (i.e. that horrible first match of the WC) he will do his utmost to make up for it, and thus he only gave up one more goal the whole rest of the WC. Granted a lot of that can also be attributed to the defense but still.

Agreed. Casillas is class but right now, Julio Cesar is the best keeper in the world for me
