You're welcome
Tough to build a Midfield when you have.

1DM
2 box to box (valverde and cama)
1 striker (Bellingham)

Who is going to slow the game down when needed.

Can still voodoo another CL win though ( I'm not even kidding about that lol).
Tchou original position was also box to box

Perez gets viewed as some kind of god but I think he's made a pretty piss poor job of authorising their squad planning last few seasons despite winning the Champions League which is usually the argument to gloss over anything.

They got used to getting away with not having to replace players properly. Seems like their strategy is to rely on buying youngsters or getting freebies. Perhaps the finances aren't there after building the billion euro sardine can but they've kind of got their Zidanes and Pavones era again.

When they've won it 6 times in the last Decade, can't say it's luck.

But they have gotten extremely lucky on about 2-3.

Like ungodly lucky.

He does same stuff whenever wins something. Rarely ever invested unless forced to by expiring contract or player leaving (CR) if team 'seemed' OK having won enough

They need players with the profiles of Kroos and Modric, but also ones with the adequate quality to start for them.
Problem for them and a lot of teams is that there simply aren't many players like that. Someone like Zubimendi might help them, but he seem set on burning his career signing for Arsenal.

Maybe they have PTSD from the Illarramendi signing as well.

Don't think they fancy Basque players in general
Only 5 players since 1990 (him, Alkorta, Karanka, Alonso and Lasa), then barely anyone since Di Stefano days

And matter of fact vice versa - not many Basque players fancy RM. Alonso probably wouldn't join directly from another Spanish side either, easier to do when you're at Pool, want to come back to the country and Barca have 3-4 world class midfielders to compete against
