Rodri

I would say that almost every year there are multiple mid table players that produce more on the pitch over the course of a season than Yamal did. His Euros output is not representative of his entire season, which is understandable given his age. And even if we ignore such players and stick to those only at the big teams, are you telling me he was better than Salah? Palmer? Musiala? Over the course of a year?! Not even close!

You were specifically talking about the euros.

And if you are talking about the calendar year 2024, which includes the euros, I would make a strong argument none of those player you listed were better than him.

The numbers, Titles and performances against the very best team themselves.

Can any of those 3 you listed realistic match his body of work in 2024, absolutely Not.

And 0 none what so ever average mid table player could do.

23 assist
10 goals
1 European Championship

Big performances against

France
Spain
Real
Bayern
Germany (if memory serves me right)
England

Palmer
Salah
Musiala

Doesn't come close to that, they may have more goals or assist, but their impact in 2024, comes nowhere close, add to that his age and it's not even a subject worth discussing.

Yes because football is as simple as that
City's problems are much deeper, yes.

But they started off with Rodri's injury. First came a few bad results, then it turned into a psychological problem and now there's an all out mess in the club with Pep losing his mind.

I don't think they would be anywhere as bad if Rodri didn't get injured. Maybe they would experience a few poor results here and there, sitting a few points off Liverpool but definitely not the absolute joke of a team they have became this season.

He's the best player in the world and the most important player for any team at club level, I have long been a fan as anyone knows. But nobody can convince me their problems don't lie much deeper.

Like someone else says, this has come out of nowhere. It could be the charges, coming off PEDs, anything.

Agree with this. They'd be better for sure but their problems are deeper too.

Rodri is key for City but let's not forget Madrid went from 3peating to having a Moyes at United season once Ronaldo left and people still defend robbing him of that ballon d'or and say he wasn't key for that team either.
