Rac1 says he was one of the top options but Valverde didn't want another CB who had little EU experience.

Sao Paulo was probably excited that we were interested in him considering the last year or so they were trying to sell him.

Brazilian press claiming he had a medical in Barcelona today and that the clubs are negotiating a loan with an obligatory buy-clause of 18m.

He signed for Valencia 3 (or 4?) years ago but failed the medical and was sent back. He came from a nasty knee injury. Good to see him pick up his career but is he really good enough for Barcelona? Anyway, ball playing CB so he's got the Barca DNA (which usually works out really great)

Didn't he fail medical in both Valencia and Atletico?
he has played a lot in every year other than this year, which he has been benched a lot.
Very weird signing if it happened

To my understanding, the Brazilian club want this clause not us. Could somehow (not really) understand the deal if we just make it a buy option

I googled and he actually failed two medicals with Valencia, the knee was too weak after his injury and they didnt want to risk it. He then had a medical with Atletico and presumably failed since that transfer fell through as well. He's played many games since then though.
